Air filter getting dirty is better than water getting in. haha But yeah, I looked at your pic again, the air has to travel upwards at the engine section. Any idea how much is the b-crew grill setup, with the airbox and all that, and where can I get them?
I got it from another forummer when upgraded to open pod filter at RM8XX if i remember correctly. The nearest place to get it new will be in singapore. Try creating an account in Swiftclubsg and ask the merchant there - Project S. If not mistaken they have a partner here as well Trial Tuning. New ones will set you back for RM1.5K i think...

Hi guys...glad to see Swifters around here...I've never met Swifters for real but for a good start, I think I should join this thread...feels the similarity...Mine is stock 1.5 2005 has clocked 205000++ km & has done some repairs on engine...

I also have the same issue about the performance...Modding cars is really fun to look at & I love to hear the sound of modded engines especially V8 & racing cams...If budget is an issue, can you guys recommend on which one would be the 1st thing that you do to increase the torque(engine response) & what are the next mods. Hopefully, this question makes sense... :)

1 - gearbox
2 - ECU
3 - camshaft
4 - others if any

thanks in advance for your replies.

Imprezho,
Hey, dude. Thanks for your comments. Yeah, most of the swift threads are dying or already dead. Even singapore's swift thread doesn't gain a lot of popularity. Kind of a waste because swift is actually a nice car to drive in, other than the occasional bad body roll and the bit of slack in over all performance.

1) Performance
I was reading your last line in performance;
"- Servicing done: HONDA 5W-30 engine oil, oil filter, air filter,NGK laser plugs, cleaned throttle body, 2 new ignition coil plugs,ATF oil, engine flush."
I was using suzuki engine oil because of the 8 free service coupons which covers oils and labour. I got 1 more service coupon to use so I might as well use the last one and after that, I plan to get my own oils, etc. some questions if you would not mind.
a) Do you get your own oil filter and air filter too? Or you use the ones that the service center/service shop provides?
b) Have you been using the NGK laser plugs for long time or you just changed it during the recent service?
c) Did you change the ignition coil plugs because it was time to change it, or was it to improve something in the car, or was it already becoming faulty?

2) Car noises. I'll try removing the driver seat and use wd-40.

3) Handling. I think your car may be built better than mine in this area as yours is CBU and mine's CKD. CKD probably stands for Che Kai Drivability. (che kai means lousy in cantonese) hahaha. Will add in the bars commented by ixeo in his post and see how much improvement i get out of it.

4) performance. I'll try out the Honda 5w30 oil that you mention probably in my next 2nd service. The upcoming one, i still have the free coupon so I'll just use that one more time. But I'll need to change the plugs because it's up to 35,000 kms and the plugs are not changed yet.

Thanks for your feedback. Will be back for more updates when I have them. :)

Ixeo,
Thanks for sharing. For the stabiliser bars, I'll keep in mind your advice on engine tower strut bar and rear anti roll bar. I've not sure if my swift already has a rear anti roll. I'll check it out later and if it doesn't have, I'll get that first.

For performance, I agree with you on the turbo. Pay big sum one time, get big power immediately (so to speak). Speedworks complete AXT turbo kit is RM8000, all in. They didn't say what's included in the "all in", though. Adding bits and pieces gets much less power but easier on the wallet. I don't actually intend to squeeze a lot of power out of this car because I am hoping to change a more powerful buy-n-drive car in about 1 or 2 years time. Maybe a car with stock 160 bhp, or something equivalent to a mazda 3 sport would also be fine. That's why I'm considering adding some bits and pieces for a bit more power on the swift for now.

By the way, I noticed that you sell Denso or Iridium. Some questions if you won't mind :)
1) how much are the iridium laser and the normal iridium plugs for swift?
2) what is the diff between laser and non laser iridum plugs?
3) any warranty? If yes, what and how does the warranty cover?
4) anything I should know before i buy and install it? don't worry, I won't expect 10% increase in bhp just from the plugs alone haha :)

Hey Dude,

1a) Yes i do normally use my engine oil and oil filters by myself as im just skeptical on getting from outside as i have my personal supplier that supplies lubricants, parts, wear and tear stuff.

b)Been using these plugs since my 70k mileage as i have just changed it at my major service 80k mileage strikes.

c)Ignition Coils were replaced due to abnormal jerking/ combustion problem at 80k mileage interval.Got it replaced with my plugs during this time as well.

**Updates so far for my swift observed at 82kmileage is that fuel consumption has improved alot as im clocking in at 380km for one full tank. Im yet to reflash my ECU to gain further improvements of this ride**

Guys,

It would be a great meet up for a drink to chillout and talk about cars too. It will be more like a small TT to intro ourselves and discuss ideas too

Wow... u must be one of the first batch of Swift owners. I got mine in year 2008, current mileage is 130k km.

I think the basic IHE would be recommended for engine mods, as for handling i'll go for ARB and strut tower bars..

I have change my coils during 80K km as well - same symptoms and issue with urs. Currently i am hitting 420-460km per tank on my daily commute from Seri Kembangan to Cyberjaya.

ECU reflash by DKtuning? or u plan to piggy back the current ECU?

Nope not by DK tuning. Found a specialist named DESMOND from POWER AUTOHAUS in Sunway.

In the midst of getting it reflashed. Any one else interested?

How is the price like? Downside of DK tuning is that he is located in Penang :( I still got few more wear and tear things to fix - engine mounts, lower arms, etc... before i can go for reflash.

Do share with us the results ya! ;):adore:

actually, i'm the 2nd owner and it reached 90k++ km when i bought it..to me, swift is rather fun to drive as compared to Honda Jazz 1.4...it might different if the engine was 1.5...

btw, i don't know what IHE stands for? hehe..still a beginner & learning...

Hi Bro,

IHE = Intake, Header & Exhaust

These 3 are the basic upgrades u can start off on your car modifications. Intakes will be the air filters, header is the exhaust manifold or extractor and lastly exhaust... err basically the exhaust system after the header till the muffler.

Since you are driving 1.5 swift which is running on throttle cable, i recommend u to tighten the cable link to the throttle body. I have met some swifters last time, the link from the throttle cable to the throttle body has some slack/freeplay hence when we step on the gas the response abit slow. So try to get ur mech to tighten the throttle cable link to get some better response. This will not increase any hp/torque just better response.

If IHE still not enuff, then u can try more advance mods like you have mentioned - change gearbox, cams, etc...

Done with my front brakes, now looking at the rear as front too bite also will cause nose dip.. and also on the handling, i know swift is very good in it's handling form already but i've changed to bc v1 coilover.. now only looking for one rear boot bar..then i'll move to the engine, currently performance i only change to custom simota open pod, add extra radiator fan, some groundings and power charger and i-concept throttle controller.. next will be turbo charge..

Now I know IHE...hehe..thanks bro...got new knowledge today. I think, maybe i should start with the intake first...last month, i just changed the oem air filter with works engineering drop in. i can feel a little bit increase from 0-60kmj & also at mid range feels better but really minor improvement...maybe got +1hp..

yeah...i'm going to ask my fren if he knows about the throttle cable matters...

So, probably now looking for aftermarket throttle body or intake manifold...got to do some more readings & survey...and so the money talks!

Anyone knows a reliable workshop/accessory shop who install retrofit projector lenses on a standard headlamp?

Apparently i have gotten a quotation that labour itself is around RM400 to get this thing fixed because headlamp cover needs to be removed in order to install the projector lights.

ANyone has recommendation for cheaper rates accessory shop that offers this?

My aunt is planning to buy a second hand car and she has shortlisted this one too. I have gone through the specs but they don;t seem too good. A 1.6 liter engine with 120 bhp i guess. That's not very amazing specs.
