There might be field hockey and ice hockey but, as anybody that has seen both games played, they share as much in common as a bikini and full-body wetsuit. Another more worthy example for these pages might be Formula One and Nascar.
Though the two might not be associated at all, sharing sponsors has made the jump a little less harsh on the knees lately, especially since Juan Pablo Montoya made the leap from Formula One to Nascar and found some success. Among the most notable drivers that have made the switch include Kimi Raikkonen and American Scott Speed has seen some time behind the wheel of both machines as well.
The latest one though is courtesy of Mobil1, that sponsors the McLaren-Mercedes team in Formula One and the Stewart-Haas Racing team in Nascar. So Lewis Hamilton and Tony Stewart swapped cars for a day at Watkins Glen for the usual promotional purposes and to give us race fans something to get excited about.
Hamilton climbed into the Chevrolet Impala of Stewart and Stewart squeezed himself into the McLaren-Mercedes MP4-23 of Hamilton for a few laps around The Glen. It was a first for Hamilton although Stewart has had some time in open-wheel racing, having drove in the IRL way back in 1997.
