I am using the osram led on my lagenda. can see it on the pic. 2 pcs. so far it's ok. its works as it is. but during rainy times can't see the roads. yes it flickers as this is the cons of an led light. flickers with inconsistent power supply

Lagenda got 2 front bulb right?
Should lit up the road very well.Thats what i noticed on bike with 2 front bulb.

yes, another weakness with white light be it on car or bike...its useless when it rains.

Update on my EX5,
I managed to get an Osram LED front bulb for free and have been using it for 2 weeks.
To me its not worth to buy.

Why?
1.Its not that much brighter than my Osram Silverstar. At times i think its less bright.
2.High beam and low beam have the same light throw distance. High beam is brighter than low beam only. I read somewhere during low beam only half of the leds are on and switching to high beam will switch on all led.

The light will flicker during idle as LED only have ON or OFF state only, unlike filament bulb where it dims when the bike is at idle.

I Will switch back to Silvestar. My bro dont want the LED bulb so if anyone want then come and get it....foc. If not then the bulb will be a time capsule somewhere in my store.
Could be the reflector focusing not built for led.....

Haiya h4 bulbs is it? Too late, I have bought already for my son Swift. My Evo needs h3 and h11.

Additional info on the Merc W124.
I only come to know today that its equipped with hill start assist....Talk about car from the 80s, thats amazing.

When in D, u wont roll back on incline and no its not coz the fwd movement from the gb. Can feel as the car begins to roll back the gb somehow stops it and hold the car stationary. Its even better than some modern vehicle system which require us to press the brake pedal on incline to activate hill start before the car will hold itself.

This is my ride for next week.
No its not mine. I still have my Pajero and its a keeper for sure.
This 2008 D40 Navara belongs to my brother in law. I cleaned it last week and was surprised when he told me its for sale.
20220820_091803.jpg

This is LE variant. I will be driving this next week to help him sell it if possible.
This car is bought 2nd hand about 2 years ago. I doubt he bought it for its intended purpose but falls into poison trap from his friends.
Nonetheless this truck did see service as transporter and service during the last flood in Melaka and N9.

20220820_091818.jpg

This is pickup from the old days thus it got the boxy looks. Squares everywhere. To me this adds presence on the road, much more imposing compared to newer pickup.

20220820_091831.jpg

Open the driver door and you will be greeted with sea of brown which comes in different shades. The door is very tall ( its a pickup after all ), its not heavy but felt solid. Feels like u are getting into something different. My Pajero does not give such impression, could be that my Pajero had shorter door and flat door card. The door card had this massive slot for item and huge cup holders..very2 well thought out indeed. No need to use your finger like a chopstick if u drop something small into the storage area. Whats sad about this car is the leather is not taken care by the previous owner, its beyond repair as u can see from the torn driver seat. The wide top part of the door card makes a very comfortable arm rest.

20220821_095308.jpg

Electric mirror, headlight leveling adjustment. These are considered premium for a truck in 2008. I found the headlight level adjustment very useful when travelling at night yesterday. This car is installed with a Cobra immobilizer. U can see the touch key point below the key slot. Previous owner installed it, taken from a Toyota vehicle. I notice it cuts power to 'ON'. I think this immobilizer is similar with my 1.8 Waja where it can cut 2 electrical point to render the car immobilized. Can it be override with and OBD tool? Nope, as its a physical cut off and is not built into the ecu thus swapping the ECU still wont get the card started.

20220821_095327.jpg

Fuel door release button. You will press this a lot depending how u drive. I'll share my experience on FC later in this post. Its also equipped ( by previous owner ) with a throttle controller which is pretty much useless considering how much power u have on tap. 4WD control is using button. I have tried both 4H and 4L. I would use 4L even when the track got a little more challenging as this is is not VGT/VGS vehicle and power comes later and sudden. 4L helps me control the power easier. On my NA Pajero i will use 4H for the same track. This could be down to driver/pilot preference.

20220820_091910.jpg

Simple meter cluster...Nothing odd or special. Tachometer will visit the higher half frequently in this vehicle. Thats where the power resides.

20220820_091916.jpg

My bro in law change the head unit and comes with a reverse camera which should be made compulsory for all pickup since the beginning. Other control are just...aircond and its cold, very cold.

20220821_095355.jpg

Double glove box. More place to store item not needed which one day will be thrown away. Why 2? I think because they realize the glovebox is indeed shallow.

20220820_091747.jpg

Rear legroom is generous. Even better than some B segment sedan. However, do remember that this is a pickup and the backrest is more upright than any car. Coupled that with pickup suspension, definitely not a place to be on long journey. Not sure if newer pickup improved on this.

20220820_092026.jpg

Suspension had been upgraded. I cant compare with stock as i never got the chance to drive a stock Navara. I like this setup. Its firm, a bit firmer that conti cars...its made as a workshorse anyway.

Rear suspension and yes, thats cooling fins on the rear axle. This model still using leaf spring. If not mistaken the model after this uses coil spring.

20220821_095422.jpg

20220821_095456.jpg

More cup holders and storage in the center arm rest. There are 8 cup holders in this vehicle. Guess workers riding in workhorse are always thirsty.

20220820_091937.jpg

Wheels and tire. AT tires are compromise between on road and off road. Thus drive with caution. I squeal the tires few times when taking corner. The body roll is still low but tire gave away first. Its a pickup, not a car....i need time to adjust to this. To those planning to own a pick up truck, this is where you will spend the most for wear and tear.

20220821_095613.jpg

I think this is HID which i never like. Personally i dont prefer white light be it HID or LED. Why? Its because i drive on all sorts of road in all sort of condition. On some of them, white light is useless....when its rains and there are no streetlight. Halogen is the best for me. Nonetheless i admits that white light have this relaxing effect when we drive in the dark...until its rains. No offence but those only drives in city or developed are wont understand this.

20220820_092056.jpg

The heart of this vehicle. 172HP + 402Nm. Ignore the 172HP first, focus on the 402Nm. This thing pulls and pulls hard. Its easy to overtake and leave everyone as if they are standing still when launching at traffic light. Now we look at the 172HP, this figure is small but remember you had just been shoved forward with 402Nm and when the 172HP takes over you are travelling at very dangerous speed for a pickup. As this is a non VGT/VGS model, the boost comes later but you dont have to wait long as it does not have a lot of rev to make before it smack you with its torque. Overtaking is a matter of you want to do it or not. I was reaching 140kmh easily from 80kmh when overtaking. Its stable on straight but do remember this is a pickup.

Fuel consumption? i was surprised when RM50 is finished in less than 100km. Only yesterday ( after a long journey from MLK to Kuala Pilah ) i noticed something. The OD will only engaged when I reached 80kmh which is impossible in town driving thus most of the engine will hover between 2000rpm and 2500rpm. I changed my driving style and try to stay in OD most of the time..sure enough fc improves drastically. That is until i purposely step on it to indulge in the relentless pull. The engine rev at 1600rm at 80kmh when OD is engage but too bad it disengage OD very easily. Braking is sufficient if you drive it in a sane manner. One needs to remember this vehicle is tall and weight more than a car thus please......exercise caution.

What has gone wrong with this truck during my bro in law ownership? The GB went into safe mode once and it was discovered that the copper circuit in the gearbox was broken. One of common issue with this gearbox but can be solve by repair instead of replace. One thing to share is that when we remove the fusebox and flip it, 'Renault' wording can be found.....is this a Renault or Nissan?

Thats it for this vehicle. Do i like it? Yes definitely but i wont own it as its not friendly to rear occupant but this could be down to the suspension setup on this specific vehicle.

This is it...my 1997 Honda EX5 High Power 1997
I got this bike used in 2004 before I go to Sabah and even bring it there.
It was bone stock back then and now with added acc for convenience.
Everything is from factory...the paint, absorber, everything except the sport rim and rear box.
<a href="http://s280.photobucket.com/user/gunnerzz_8094/media/Side Right.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk167/gunnerzz_8094/Side Right.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Side Right.jpg"/></a>

Nothing to shout about...its 'just' an EX5 High Power. Its uncomfortable and not fast but will get you anywhere. Superb town commuter. Everything in the engine is stock. The carb is also stock with stock jetting.

How far it has travelled without any breakdown...except for punctured. Engine had never been rebuild just replace the gasket. I practice changing the engine oil every month as I will ride 80% from the limit on weekdays. Engine oil used is either Castrol or Shell. This bike will reach 100kmh on the speedo.

Seeing this engine cover alone will make some mech offer me to buy the bike. Its not nice as I mentioned earlier its ori since 1997.

Fuel tank is under the seat. I will let it run until the gauge is below the big red bar and fill up Rm6. The ori tool is missing..too bad.

1st 2 million unit sticker....faded but its true, that's how much they sell this thing.

Lighting and reflector...Stanley for front. The front headlight is using Osram Silverstar. Its brighter and more focus. Rear is AAP lens with Stanley bulb.

Givi Wildcat 25 box mounted on Kappa J-rack. Its used to carry my rain gear. Told u guys I ride everyday to work right...that means be it rain or shine. My helmet will be locked at my bike or left at the guardhouse. Nobody brave enough to steal security manager helmet eh?
Givi box is good but the cylinder lock is lousy. It will become stuck and hard to turn.

The rims is just normal rim and normal tire used. I ride this daily and after 4 years I encounter a puncture.
Not bad eh. I will continue riding as long as I can as its convenient and quick.

Bonus pic...Ghost rider watering the plant
Gunnerzz, since you are one of the active motorcyclist here, I need some advise.
I am having trouble with the raincoats on the market. I tried GIVI, Yamaha, and ARAI, and all of them leak in water after a short while. It always starts with the pants, then it starts leaking from the jacket zipper. Are there any brands that can last much longer, I find they all leak after about 20 to 30 wears.

My previous set of Givi last for about 3 years. The pants starts to leak and I decided to buy a new Givi set early this year? The jacket is in great shape and i gave it to my brother.

My new Givi set got the pants leaking on the 2nd usage. I checked and discover its leaking from the waterproof tape used at the stiching seam. The leak is as usual at our critical/sensitive area or 'telur basah/adik kecut' as some rider calls it. I had to bought a new Givi pants only and its Ok till today. How many times i wear it? I dont count but i ride to work abt 97% of the time in a year.

I never had problem with leak from the zipper. Its like a double lock (velcro + zipper and folded over raincoat thing) so almost impossible for water to seep thru. BTW i bought a slightly bigger size as i carry backpack with laptop which needs to fit under the raincoat too.

On brands, another rider suggested Foxdry but i decided to stay with Givi. He claimed its as good as Givi in keeping u dry but lighter and better ventilated. He uses it almost everyday as he claimed its like a sweater and not like being inside an oven like when wearing Givi.

Can consider Xdot too. Though mine is still 1 year old, no problems to speak of.

Update on My EX5. New parts went on the bike. Both are wear and tear parts.
The first one is a new set of rims ( never know that rims can be a wear and tear part). I did not change it for looks but the rear bearing housing is worn out and causing the wheel to wobble which is not good especially when taking corners on uneven road. Yes temporary fix can be done by using a sheet of aluminum from any drink can but I have been on that temporary fix for more than a year and the housing is now worn out beyond that. Short conversation with my regular mech reveal that even branded sport rim suffer form similar problem after certain period of time. Considering my previous set or normal brand rim last me more than 5 or 6 years, I decided to opt for middle range product.
Initially when changing the rims I decided to keep the Maxxis Diamond on the rear as it still got some life left. However, the tire decided to pick up a small sharp piece of metal on the 2nd day I use the new rims so might as well change to new tire. Was considering the Pirelli Diablo Rosso to match the front but change my mind and go for Corsa Sport Rain.

Why Corsa Sport Rain? Its because I am a daily rider to work regardless of weather. I have experienced the Sport Rain on my brother's bike and I must say its gripping better than Maxxis Diamond in both wet and dry. Diablo Rosso provide excellent grip in dry but never felt comfortable or confidence in the rain. I will still keep the Diablo Rosso on the front as its still acceptable for me with not much load at the front fork unlike the rear tire. How good is the Diablo Rosso? If u are using it on a kapchai, the tire will laugh at you when you are leaning down at corner and said to you "itu je ke boss?" What the Diablo Ross and Sport Rain had in common is that both tire had the capability to throw pebbles in the face of the rider behind you.

Will upload picture soon as the forum seems to be having issue with uploading pictures.

Corsa Sport Rain...as the name suggest, its made for wet surface. However dont be fooled by the name, this tire is also good in dry.

20220904_210818.jpg

This is how the thread looks like. The compound is softer than my previous Maxxis Diamond, that could be the reason of much better grip in the dry.

20220904_210830.jpg

My new rims. Yoshipower brand. Those with eagle eyes will notice oil stain on the plywood used as sacrifice layer whenever i park the bike using the double stand. Nope, my bike is not leaking, the leak was fixed not too long ago by replacing the seals on the magnet cover/left engine cover. The seal comes as a kit for whatever parts that uses o-ring and other type of seals at the cover. Even more eagle eyed readers will notice my side stand is equipped with a rubber pad (bought at shopee). This way it wont damage the tile whenever i uses the stand to park in my porch.

And yes, i know my bike is dirty. Told u guys i ride everyday regardless of weather right.

Its ok for bike to be dirty. My Ex-5 is my sacrificial transport. I only maintain it enough so that it is safe and reliable to ride. It doesnt look pretty with the cracked and faded fairings.

Update on my trusty EX5..
The mileage clocked 110k km last month. The engine is showing its age with timing chain noise, teppet noise which can only be solved temporarily, clutch is not so grippy. This bike has served me faithfully all these years while receiving hard riding style.

Initially i thought of a block refresh only. After discussion with my mech i decided to go for block upgrade to 53mm block set with semi dome piston. Original is 50mm. Additional supporting mods are better clutch plate and clutch spring. My mech knows how i ride based on the teppet situation and knows that i change my oil on monthly basis regardless of mileage. This mod good enough for daily ride while maintaining reliability.

The bike was completed last week and i have been riding it with no issue at all. With the std 50mm block the capacity is 97cc and now its 109cc. My brain tells me not to expect much as its minor increase. However, everytime i twist the throttle the bike pulls in an effortless manner. Its not viscous (only 53mm block) but so smooth and very convincing. That can be felt in all gear. My weight of only 70kg is a helping factor too. Reaching 80kmh on the speedo is too easy and it felt that 'habis meter' is easily achieveable. I havent pushed it as usual as my mech advised me to take it easy for the first 2 weeks.

I also had to adjust my riding style esp on corners ( i drop a gear most of the time b4 a corner) as opening the throttle to much causes the rear stock suspension to compress more and front end to lift which led to unconvincing feel from the front. This needs another mod...haahaha.

FC? Or course it increases a bit but not significant. If i tend to enjoy the pull 1/2 throttle from 1st gear to 3rd gear frequently, i can see the increase in fc even more but i dont mind that as it makes me smile both physically and mentally everytime i felt the torque.

Is it worth it? Its a big yes for me as first of all its cheap, very cheap. Then it makes the bike a lot better for daily riding.
20230522_213856.jpg

20230522_213916.jpg

I will play with this setup for few more weeks and then decide if i need a new sprocket setting for better cruising, its standard size now. For now i am still having fun with the torque.

I swapped my rear sprocket from standard 36T to 33T. I lose torque but its much better at 80lkmh, the engine doesnt need to rev that high, kicking down gears also smoother and not so jerky, just need to gear down more when need to accelerate.

I think mine now rear is 34 and the front is 17 maybe? Its relaxed at 80kmh. We will see after 1 or 2 month. As we gets older, torque matter more than hp.
