have those who says 'prefer bigger cc' vs 'turbo' had owned or driven big cc cars and turbo cars? i mean.. we're not talking about kancil L2s with 3.0cc NA cars.. i mean like 2.0 turbo vs 3.0.. or 3.0 turbo vs 4.0V8 .. or somesort.. at least it's on a comparable size....? then only one can justify the 'verdict' of what the preference is...

I guess that it really boils down to what car is compared with what car, doesn't it?

Should we set up some comparisons? I believe it would be good cannon fodder for the thread, and we will get to see the various "different strokes for different folks", as it were.

Then again we would have to compare cars that are similarly focused. Rather than just picking a 2L turbo to go up against a 3L NA.

i never knew this thread would go into an argument!

well, in my case, i was contemplating of having either 1UZ-FE (4.0 V8 NA) or 2JZ-GTE (3.0 I6 twinturbo) transplanted into my car.

i would love to have the torque of a V8 but in my opinion, it would be more expensive to upgrade compared to the 2JZ, especially if i choose to turbocharge the V8. if twin turbo V8 expensive, single turbo V8 also expensive... die lor like that...

but in a general term (not our case of cant afford to convert evo engine to wira - put in 4G93 DOHC NA instead - no offense to anyone yeah!), a smaller displacement turbocharged engine can match the performance of a larger displacement NA engine, while keeping the fuel consumption low.

example is a Volvo S80 2.0T and a Cefiro 3.0V6. they are similar in terms of horsepower, but volvo wins hands down in terms of fuel consumption (assuming sane n normal driving of course).

and even a comparison between same engine (turbo vs bigger cc), lets say B16A turbo vs B20B NA, which one can yield higher horsepower/torque at a cheaper price? dont put winning races into consideration cos gearbox/tyres/driver come into play (too many variables)

that's my thought...

khoyos: haahah.. argument? nah.. for wat? it aint argument.. jes constructive discussion.. i've got forced induction from rotaries, to inline 6 pots... to tuned NA high capacity V8s... so "i know what's what".. not jes based on 'i like...' or..'i feel...' or.. 'i think'....

;)

how's yr gb? i wanna let it go dirth cheap.. how? r u still interested?

Share lah dude. Which is your preference?

khoyos: u bastard! ahahahhaha

deacon: umm... it depends... for brute force ... still prefer the 2JZ.. for instant torque + siok sendiri + daily driven ... V8...

Hi guys,
Nice to see a thread about High CC cars :D

Unfortuneatly due to our "excellent" gobermernt the road tax is pretty steep
for our cars.. so there are not many of us :D

I've got a cefiro 3.0
and was wondering which road to take in the future..
forced induction Or NA.

I'd like to learn from u guys how to increase power in my ride :D

artspeed: crude..but true.. ;)

wildsaints: it depends... on what u want.. and what budget u have..

Black:
Hahah.. tHE B word.. :D
I got to save first..
Once i have plenty of Budget..
then, i'll msg u for ideas and advice :D
Thanks man.

Big boost more happy.....no big cc.Low Rpm Big Cc n big Hp go to V8 engine.

actually its only in peninsular where you guys suffer the steep roadtax... when i was in kl with my 1j i paid almost 900bucks per year... after i transfer my car back to sabah my roatax is just mere 500bucks....

no wonder pl here drive fairlady like nothing... but it still is one of the most expensive to pay annually over here in sabah as the diesel or over 4000cc still gets discount if they are green engine

V8 ftw. under $20k for 2 yrs old chrysler 300c. this was what i drove on a 6000km roadtrip 1 summer - trashed the hell outta it. its a rental of course.

It would be really interesting for some LS1 V8s to be brought into the country. There are an over abundance in the US .... and apparently real cheap over there.

haha...lets take for easy example...
evo 9 2.0 turbo can win 3.0 BMW 7 car far already lor ^^
force induction is more important...
RX7 only 1.3... but the power can win a lot of big CC !!

A turbo is an engine accessory not an engine. Add a turbo to anything and it will become faster.

If i added a turbo onto a 3L BMW do you think the Evo 9 would still win?:banghead:

?? is stock vs stock la... not modification... evo car stock already FI...which is Forced induction engines...is not add or not add la !! bro... BMW stock also 3L cc ...
This thread is Forced induction vs bigger cc.... NOT(If i added a turbo onto a 3L BMW do you think the Evo 9 would still win?) understand ?!!
Lets say...if bmw add a turbo...then evo change to bigger turbo which is gt60 can boost about 1000hp++:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Oh i see sorry for my mess up. Stock vs stock you say?

M3 e92 vs Evo 9 or better yet Evo 10.

Why an Evo to a 3L BMW when you can compare it to the best 3 series there is? Are you then going to turn around and say comparing a 4 cyliner with a turbo to a 6 cylinder is fair, but to not to an 8 cylinder?

i prefer forced induction
well , i think nobody can resist the blow off sounds .
but but yesterday drive the 2005 euro r
waaaaa :banghead:
vtec really sumtin
