Gearbox judder: throttle position sensor (TPS) problem?

I have replaced my 6A12 auto box with a recond unit 3 months ago. Lately the gearbox experiences a judder occasionally whenever I release the accelerator pedal. Since the gearbox is still under warranty, I sent it back to the gearbox specialist for diagnostics. After some road testing and tinkering with scan tool, it was found that the ATF temp at oil cooler is abnormally high at 93 degree. He said there was a some clogs in the oil cooler, so he flushed it and have the gearbox TFT sensor (which he said was malfunctioning due to the excessive temp) replaced (RM350 burned). The temp seemed to return to lower reading about at 65 degree. The unfortunate thing is that the judder remains. So now he told me it would be the throttle position sensor (TPS) problem. “Come back after the 15th day of CNY I’ll adjust the TPS.”

It was late at 7pm, so I took my car to my friend’s garage next door to have the TPS data scanned. I was told TPS was within normal range. (I couldn’t understand but read the reading was 644 at idle and 664 at throttle opened) So there shouldn't be a problem with TPS.

Damn it. I have to endure the judder for another 2 weeks. What goes wrong?

Try throwing a bottle of LUBEGARD RED inside there and cross your fingers. ONLY the RED, not the more expensive platinum or whatever magic potion.

It's a cheap attempt.

Could that be the gearbox got defect - since its a recond > NOT halfcut....

6A12 automatic gearbox has weak internals, even a ATF cooler will only prolonged the life of the gearbox slightly. Best solution is to convert to a manual transmission and have no headache after that if you dont mind. I notice most perdana v6 users who have their auto gearbox last for long it's mainly because they never HIGH rev, but will fail eventually.

Would halfcut/Jap made gearbox better? Perdana gearbox is locally made?

I have clocked the previous gearbox 90,000km before it broke down. I would love a manual gearbox but the price is ridiculous. Since I have just changed the gearbox recently, I would have to make do with it for a while.

Is it necessary to change the ATF 1,000km after changing the gearbox? Could the problem related to this because I didn't do the first 1,000km ATF change service, and now the gearbox already clocked 5,000km mileage.

Bro...I'm x sure whether it's d same problem but I had similar symptoms on my wife's vios...judder n vibrating like crazy..even on neutral (tho less a bit)...mcm2 I did...replace plugs (coz since bought nvr change)..result: still persist....then check n replaced all engine mountings...result: less but stil persist...finally had d gearbox replaced...result: settled..but mine x recon la but half cut one...

So I think it's d gearbox itself..lucky for u it's stil under warranty...unfortunately have to wait til after cny to get it sorted..

Yup, try the lubeguard atf additives. Many have given good feedback..

Bro. ixeo, Why not the Platinum one? Many good feedback also....:driver:

Last I check, Eneos ada jual. I added a bottle to my ATF after I nearly murdered my auto gearbox due to leaking ATF.. found metal leftovers in the ATF.. experienced judder etc.. after adding.. seems to have improved.

Only the RED is officially used by SAAB and Volvo as an additive to their problematic gearbox. Proven, so stick to it.

One seller even recommend the HFM model for high revving.....

An update to the gearbox shudder problem. Problem fixed.
Car was sent back for long check and diagnosis process last week. The problem lied with the faulty wiring of gearbox. Now solved.

Bro YYC,

can recommend where you did yr diagnosis for the GB?

I wanna get mine check though...got this weird on going shuddering feel when I engage on 1st gear at standstill / traffic jam.. when rev then no more...when release the pedal...rpm low @ 1st gear..shudder come back again and only happens at 1st gear... other gears are ok, no slippage.

Lucky my shudder only applies on 1st gear...how was yours? if no jam its OK...now see traffic light..quickly put back to N...

Got my ATF done about 10 days ago on 28/9. Didn't solve the problem. Not all workshops are experts to handle perdanas...don't wanna get into trouble change this and that and yet problem never solve..scared already.

hmm.. engine mounting? if can shudder like that means the mounting keras or gone very badly already. Later will send to sri muda workshop have them see the mounting... just more like GB, torque converter or gears related.

my idle speed now is 1000rpm at current.

Can recommend a good workshop for me? ... anywhere in KL/puchong/shah alam/ klang also can
