i used to always buy magnatec from tesco, even my mech asked me where i got it as confirm its original, those sold at spare part shop are mostly immitations.
I'm ok if trusted brands like Castrol/Mobil/Shell sold on discounts in Tesco, but Tesco own brand I'm not confident.

I bought Mobil 1 5W40 Fully Synthetic for RM129.00...carrefour...
Wah that's a very good deal! Sure only 129, not 139? When did you get it?

Hmm 0W40 a bit too thin for me.
Oo Tesco also. Carrefour also sometimes gives such discounts but not as often as Tesco.

No difference here...5W or 0W is for winter...not in Malaysia...
40 weight are normal...a bit heavy for perodua...a bit thin for older cars...

The stock I bought was made in 2011 as printed on bottle. Does this explain the price it was sold at?
Most of the shelf life is 5 years for a typical engine oil.
But it also depends on how the stockist put them.
Changes to temperatures might change the oil's characteristic.
Make sure to shake them up before using it.

Not confident with the Tesco oil. For chemicals like these where we would not know if it's good enough until it's too late, I'd rather stick with well known trusted brands.
For the FS Tesco oil to me in not cheap that is why did not try. But the Tesco SS 10w-40 I got cheap.
If not mistaken, one time sold at RM49.90 then second bottle, half price. I am using in my NA Hyundai Sonata III. No complaints about it. Oil from Singapore....

Kancil recommended viscosity is 10w-30, some use 5w-30....

In another forum/topic, there was a discussion on oil expiry date, but no one can come out with an actual answer whether have or not?

I bought Castrol Magnatec from Tesco yesterday as well. Couldn't find the plastic/aluminium seal inside, and my mechanic said it should be fake. But I saw some threads people are saying it is normal for engine oils sold in Tesco and Carrefour to have no seal?

Isn't the whole reason some of us buy from Tesco/Carrefour is because we believe that they will not sell fake oils?

Below is pic where you can see there is really no seal!

No, because the addictives might drop to the bottom.
If u pour it in, some of the addictives might not be in some part of the engine.
And some parts might get a lot

Yea. But some manufacturers say it's 5 years.

Yup, oil from EU do not have the internal seal....
Is not fake, Tesco as a MNC will not sell fake stuffs. Anyway, many have used and go back for some more...

Wrote a mail to Castrol Malaysia on Monday 20th May 2013 no reply to date. A bit disappointed at their response, or lack thereof.

They cannot do anything because oil not from Castrol Malaysia. Same goes for Shell and Mobil.

The Castrol Edge 0w-40 I got for my colleague was at RM139, Castrol selling RM200 plus

No choice but to trust them. The Tesco PIC also told me memang they don't have the inner seal.
Should be ok la, the bottle cap is already like a seal anyway. The Mobil 1 bottle is sealed though with additional plastic cap cause the bottle is one with the goose neck extension type.

Only problem without the internal seals is sometimes it leaks.....

Dear Forummers,

I would like to reupholster & rewrap by car seats as they are pretty old. I may also rewrap the pillars and the roof lining too.

Can anyone recommend a place with good workmanship that they themselves have experienced before?

Thanks in advance!
