When was the last time a concept car has stunned you and continues to do the same when it enters the production phase? While most cars are forced to endure the toned down styling phase when it enters the production lines, Lexus decided that they are not going to do that this time and let the LC500 bask under the limelight with its wild styling features.
Starting its life as the LF LC concept, the new LC500 is based upon an all-new platform called GA-L which will give birth to Lexus’ future front-engined, rear-wheeled models. The new LC500 offers a sharper driving experience due to the positioning of the engine and cabin closer to the centre and lower in the chassis.
So what does the LC500 get to please the crowd and stand up from its rivals? Powering this new Lexus coupe is a 5.0-liter V8 engine that churns out 467-horsepower and 389 lb-ft of torque, equipped with a dual intake inlet to improve the soundtrack and breathing. It is mated to a newly-developed 10-speed Aisin automatic gearbox offering shift times similar to a dual-clutched unit. This combination leads to a zerotohundred time of less than 4.5 seconds.
Providing the stopping power are 6-piston brake calipers at the front and four-piston at the rear. Lexus is giving the customers options on whether to go with the 20-inch alloys or the larger 21-inch. Using lightweight and high-strength steel in the construction, a carbon fiber roof and the aluminium door skins mounted on the inner carbon fiber door helps in distributing the weight 52/48 between the axles.
