A number of tuners have had their go on the BMW i8, and most of them came out with improvements on the visual side. We have not heard much on anyone trying to bump up the performance of this hybrid sports car but when we do, it is one that will definitely blow your mind.
Introducing Gabura Racing Technologies. A German tuner specializes in racing transmission, they decided to stand up above the rest and transform the i8 into something that will definitely turn heads. Instead of focusing on giving it a facelift, Gabura decided to strip the i8 of its original power plant and put in a 4.4-liter V8 engine lifted off from a BMW M6 instead.
That simply means that this i8 now rolls with a massive 560-horsepower instead of its original 357-horsepower. But that is not all just yet as according to them, the powertrain was apparently updated by Alpina to produce 200 horses more than the standard unit. Closing to 800-horsepower, all the power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential transmission.
For now, Gabura has yet to release any information on the total output sent to the wheels or even the performance figures. But since the stock i8 can do a zerotohundred in just 4.4 seconds, we bet that this creation can a whole lot better than that.
