After much anticipation and numerous spyshots, the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider finally makes its official debut at the North American International Auto Show. Of course, the car retains most of the features found on the hardtop 4C, but they have added sculptured air intakes at the sides and the removable and stowable cloth roof will also be available alongside an optional carbon fiber hardtop.
But those are not the only changes made to the 4C as the new open top version also gets redesigned headlights, a deck lid with three functional heat extractors and an aero-optimized spoiler. At the back, the car comes with an optional Akrapovic performance exhaust system with centre-mounted tips finished in carbon fiber surrounds.
Four new alloy wheel designs are also offered for the 4C Spider, ranging from 17 to 19 inch. The brake caliper also has the option to be finished in silver, red, yellow or black. Seven shades are offered for the 4C Spider, which includes the new Giallo (yellow) and there are six combinations with two seat material options. Even with the complex open top configuration, the car only gains 10kg from the hardtop version.
It is still powered by the same four-cylinder 1.75-liter turbocharged engine that pushes out 177-horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque via a twin-clutch gearbox. Zerotohundred is dealt in 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 258km/h.
