Sergio Perez Takes the McLaren P1 Down Top Gear’s Test Track

McLaren and Top Gear have a special connection between them, like how the British supercar maker utilizes their Dunsfold Test Track in perfecting their MP4-12C Italia-eater. And with their new P1 hypercar being recently revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, it seems that we do not have to wait long to see the 903-horsepower hybrid being trashed around the famous test track.

Maybe the word “trashed” is a bit too much, “tested” sounds more like it when McLaren’s Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez takes McLaren’s new crown jewel for a spin. We could have seen Lewis Hamilton on the wheels instead, but maybe he will appear in any Mercedes’ insane Black Series in the future.

As soon as Perez gets into the car, the P1 delivered nothing but excitement to the Mexican driver. Awed by the acceleration and the braking, he said that it is the closest thing he had ever driven to an actual Formula 1 car. But if you are waiting for a timed lap across this iconic test track – like how we were when we pressed play – then maybe you are in for a bit of a disappointment as Perez only took it for a quick stroll on the track. Nevertheless, this shows that McLaren had brought the P1 down there, and it is only a matter of time before we see either one of the Top Gear UK trio power sliding this awesome machine.
