Ariel Atom Cup Has Londoners Ogling over Pit Stop Crew’s Tyre Changing Skills!

Downtown London is where it’s at fellas, and it happens to be where a pit crew that’s participating in the 2013 Ariel Atom Cup has decided to display their skills as to how to go about swapping out a full-set of tyres, whilst waiting for the intersection lights to turn green.

Taking only a quick time span of just 30 seconds, the team managed to change out the tyres – sans fuels of course, leaving the driver plenty of time before the lights turned green as Londoners paused to ogle on.

The Atom Cup will be taking place at 8 venues throughout the United Kingdom, with racers vying for the top step in their respective Cup Spec Atoms, and even though their cars are pretty much road legal, the series won’t be allowing owners to race their own cars in the competition.

For this particular one-make series, the Atom has gone through some revamping, receiving a new body kit, a full rollover protection for the driver’s safety, Ohlins suspension as well as Yokohama racing slicks (A048 – Dry, AS006 – Wet) wrapped around a 15″ cast alloys for the fronts and 16″ cast alloys for the rear.

A set of 290mm ventilated discs with twin-piston callipers will be found at all four corners, while managed by a Titon aluminium racing pedal box with twin master cylinder that’s adjustable for front/rear brake bias.

Propelling both mana and machine forward will be a 2.0L K20Z Honda i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine that’ll get it up to 100kmh from standstill in just 3.12s and onwards to a top speed of 230kmh thanks to an output of 245bhp at 8,400rpm and 224Nm of torque 6,100rpm, all of which gets managed by a close ratio 6-speed gearbox with a hydraulic clutch.

Race day for the 2013 Ariel Atom Cup looks to begin on the 27th / 28th April at the Silverstone Grand Prix, followed by: Cadwell Park (12 May), Brands Hatch Indy (8th / 9th June), Oulton Park (13th July), Castle Combe (3rd August), Brands Hatch Grand Prix (24th / 25th August), Silverstone National (7th September) before ending at the Snetterton 300 (26th / 27th October).
