Aston Martin had come a long way in the world of motoring, and they did not only make a name in the luxury car business. If you had your eyes trained on the motorsports scene, they also manufacture world-class race machines that appeared on almost all major races in the world. So aside from having special edition models to celebrate their 100th birthday, Aston Martin just recently announced that they will also be launching their own one-make race series later this year.
Called the Aston Martin GT3 Cup, this new one-make race series will be opening its entries to both the Aston Martin DBRS9 and the Vantage GT3. This new race series is an invitational class within the Aston Martin GT4 Challenge of Great Britain, where each of the races will run in duration of either 100 laps or 100 minutes.
In complying with the regulations of the GT3 Cup, all racecars will be fitted with a new exhaust system to keep the noise level under 105-dB; where it has already included in the entrance fee. Teams and drivers will also automatically be entered into the Aston Martin Racing Global Challenge, gaining access to the Aston Martin VIP Race Centre as well.
For the time being, the race will only be taking place in the UK, starting off at Silverstone on April 6, Donington Park on June 1, and the final showdown at Centenary Festival (Brands Hatch) on July 7.
