Nissan Exec Hints on New, Hardcore Variant for the GT-R, 370Z

Nismo, Nissan’s motorsports and performance division had came up with two Nissan models that had received their pumped-up touches during last year’s Tokyo Motor Show; the Juke Nismo Concept and the EV Leaf Nismo. And while those had resulted to some great outcomes, they are now turning their attention to other Nissan models that deserves such touches the most.

Taking a short peek at the Juke Nismo, it might not deliver a serious grunt and punishing power like the GTR-sourced Juke R, but it does give the crossover some spice to liven it up a bit without an explosive price tag. With Nismo variant models receiving a 15% increase on power output besides of having a distinct styling that features red accents, according to Nissan’s Executive Vice President Andy Palmer, the suspension and steering setup could also be customized to give drivers a better response in dealing with the extra horsepower. That gives the Juke Nismo’s 1.6-liter turbocharged engine to run with about 215-horsepower and 125-horsepower for the Leaf.

But those are not the cherry on top of the cake as what we are interested in is the future GT-R which will also be receiving a Nismo variant to go alongside the Nismo 370Z. And if those are not enough to fill the craving of adrenaline rush, then the much extreme RS models might fit your needs in providing those seeking for an intense surge of power and performance.

For the time being, Palmer has yet to confirm on when will the GT-R RS or the 370Z RS be hitting the streets, but it will be pretty soon. It would be a surprise if they had the time and resources to Nismo-ize the Juke and the Leaf, but not their flagship performance lines that had made a great impact in motorsports.
