Need for Speed Rolling Into the Movies in 2014

Any of you experienced the era where the BMW M3 GTR is the ultimate car and Razor as the nemesis? Or having Palmont as the next-in-line city for your conquest of speed, challenging the Audi Le Mans Quattro or known today as the Audi R8? The fans of the Need for Speed franchise can now rejoice as after all these years, one of the most racing games to have appeared on consoles and PC has now been scheduled to make an appearance on the big screens!

Yes, you heard it right, and this is no secret hush-hush that is usually passed down discreetly in forums. DreamWorks Studios has just acquired the rights to put EA’s most popular racing game franchise onto the silver screens and is expected to bring that rush of adrenaline to the audience at 2014. And with the script already done by George Gatin, brother of John Gatin who wrote Real Steel’s screenplay, shooting is expected to start at somewhere around early next year.

And the movie that will appear will not be based on only one particular Need for Speed series, but the entire franchise. Not sure how they will try to pack up all the countless series into one movie though, hopefully they will do it without cramping up the whole storyline. They did gave an assurance that this movie “will be a fast-paced, high-octane film rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the 70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise”. And by looking back to their series like Hot Pursuit, Carbon, or even Most Wanted, it will definitely have Lamborghinis, Evos, undercover police in powerful cars and hopefully some spectacular collisions.

And in case the recent movie Act of Valor pleases you, here is another good news right here as the director, Scott Waugh has been attached to direct this upcoming high-speed movie. Sounds convincing? Well, let’s just hope that they will be able to capture the essence of what makes Need for Speed as it is and be one of those that could stand against the Fast and the Furious movie line in being “a fast-paced, high-octane film” as they claim that it will be.

Looks like there’s a bit of a confusion here, so let me clarify this bit. The trailer put here is just for show only, it’s not the real trailer for the upcoming movie. If they could make a game trailer to be that cool, imagine how the trailer would be like for the movies? Should be super-awesome!
