JUNIOR LOTUS RACING COLLECTS VITAL POINTS AT FIRST RACE OF 2010 SEASON

The Junior Lotus Racing made its debut in Race 1 of the World Series by Renault Formula 3.5 Championship at the Ciudad del Motor de Aragon (Motorland Aragon Circuit) today, and ended the day relieved after collecting vital points through its drivers Daniil Move and Nelson Panciatici.

Though having to brave the rain that came down throughout the race, and ending the quests of several competitors for the day, Move and Panciatici soldiered their way through the grid from positions 16 and 13 respectively, to safely cross the finish line in positions 9 and 5 respectively, securing 8 valuable points for the MOFAZ Racing-owned and operated team based in Wellingborough.

Nelson Panciatici, driving the number 10 car for Junior Lotus Racing, also ended up on the podium today for the Rookie Cup, after securing 3rd position amongst rookies out on the track battling it out during Race 1.

The determination and focus that the team has presented to motorsports fan around the world, off and on the track was what attracted the attention of Lotus Racing, which shares the same motivation in its quest to emerge the best ‘new’ F1 team in 2010.

An accord was struck between Lotus Racing and MOFAZ Racing to work hand-in-hand to develop F1 stars of tomorrow through the grinding paces of WSR Formula 3.5, which demands a high level of competency amongst its drivers, as it is acclaimed by many as the penultimate step in single-seater racing before F1.

The 2010 World Series by Renault Championship Race 2 will resume on the 18th of April in Motorland Aragon, Spain, where Junior Lotus Racing’s Daniil Move and Nelson Panciatici will strive more diligently to gain podium finishes. Junior Lotus Racing is currently 3rd in the World Series by Renault Formula 3.5 Team Championship, and looks forward to bettering its position in Race 2 as well.

Wow. Lotus(Proton)is going all out with Racing. Hope the return is worth it.

Well there is always a misconception about Proton involvement in Lotus Racing. The actual fact is that, none of Proton money were involved in any racing. The Lotus F1 racing is not the Lotus company that Proton owns. Its a private consortium led by Dato Tony Fernandes. He uses the Lotus name and Proton has given the license to use the Lotus name for his team. In return, Proton name will be displayed on the F1 cars. Hope this info might help to solve the mis communication.

Yes, that is true autoinsider except the fact about no Proton money involved.

The Proton logo is on the car because they have come in officially as a paying sponsor. Sticky point for some people to accept but this is marketing budget that would have otherwise be spent in some other A&P programme.

Other than that, yes Proton has no other spend on them and is not involved in the ownership of the team. It's all private by Tony and his partners.

As for Lotus Junior Racing, it's more to do with a 'strategic alliance' with the Mofaz Group who owns the Renault World Series team. Fairuz Fauzy is the son of Mofaz chairman, Hj Fauzy. No idea if any real money exchange took place but both Tony and Hj Fauzy are very shrewd businessmen.

Dear Speed and race fan. As far as i know my fact is true. Try to google around about this fact. Yes currently Lotus Racing is utilising the facilities at Lotus Norfolk because they already have the facilities for an F1 team there. Remember Lotus Racing only conceive in 5 months, so the help from Lotus is essential. The main facilities for Lotus racing will be built at Sepang soon. Another fact, why Lotus Racing based in UK currently is because most of the parts in F1 cars are customize made mostly in the UK by the UK vendors. Currently Proton involvement was to have the Lotus name to be used by Lotus Racing by license and in return the Lotus Racing gives the advertising platform for Proton to display the Proton logo prominently on the Lotus Racing cars.

autoinsidermalaysia,

You cannot pass what you find on the net as fact. You should be very aware and be able to make the distinction between 'fact' and 'hearsay' or opinion. Very important if you're trying to earn a following and credibility with your blogspot. You can report hearsay but never pass it off as fact because people who are on the ground know the real deal, see what you write and discredit you immediately. The zerotohundred editorial team I think will agree.

What I mentioned is based on info 'from the ground' which you cannot beat through googling. Even as you read this, realize that you're still on the net, so you should take this as a lead to get down, speak to real people and verify the facts. Don't just take what you read on the net as fact and that includes my own writing.

As for UK, I think you're a little confused between Group Lotus and Lotus Racing. Whilst they are both in Norfolk, Group Lotus, the company that manufacture Lotus road cars is in Hethel, while Lotus Racing, the F1 team is in Hingham.

They are 2 different locations. Group Lotus does not have the facilities and capabilities required to support an F1 team operation.

Lotus Racing, based in Hingham is housed in the RTN facility, which previously served Audi and their Bentley Le Mans programme and prior to that was suppose to serve as base for potential a Toyota F1 programme. RTN is not part of Group Lotus, the car company.

k this is getting to complicated :confuse:

what i know is that if tony are paying proton for the sole purpose of just using lotus name and proton just hitchhiking than its really stupid of tony, he is better off like virgin racing in which he put his own company name and not ford or dodge or whatsoever.

that why i was questioning as that is not sponsorship/patnership or whatsoever that just stupidshit. if u think rationally. u pay someone just to use his name and what for they better off using the money for paying the pit crew meals or something?? if proton pays tony to put proton and lotus logo thats different.

so maybe proton and lotus are providing them with the engineer? facilities? technologies? wind tunnel ( if they have one) what else?? something! cause its just ridiculous for tony to put proton and lotus logo without any of this guy giving anything~ never heard of such thing in motorsport. sheesh..

speed,

Good observation and Tony is not daft.

He is not paying anything to Proton however he has smartly got Proton to support his team by earning their blessing(permission etc) to race as Lotus. In addition it is Proton that has given funding for sponsorship, earning them the space on the car.
