Sebastian Buemi horrifying accident at Chinese Grand Prix

Sebastian Buemi had a horrifying accident during todays practise session at the Chinese Grand Prix, somehow both of his front wheels managed to detach themselves simultaneously, effectively making Buemi a passenger in his own car. Many tout it to be the worse technical error in F1 history and its understandable why they say that. There seems to be a small explosion in the front suspension set up, which is never a good thing when you’re charging down a straight in a formula car. Thankfully Buemi was not hurt in the incident but we’re pretty sure someone will be getting the axe for this.

Clearly the failure was initiated when he hit the brakes. Could be a manufacturing failure or could be improper installation. Either way I think it's almost certainly caused by human error somewhere in the processes between designing the part to installing it on the car.

I think the fault is somewhere in the brakes components themselves probably around the calipers and how its attached to the hub. The wheel carriers themselves were intact and they would have been restrained by the wheel safety tethers if they detached. In this case the wheels just flew off.

This was a serious incident and someone surely will have to pay dearly for it.

Just read the report on Autosport. Guess the failure was caused by the front right upright (wheel carrier/hub) and the wheel tethers that was supposed to stop them from becoming a dangerous projectile didn't work either.

They were using newly designed uprights for this race. I guess it's probably a design flaw

Super dangerous..
When you are driving at 300kph, even the smallest weakness in the car could be fatal.
The problem arises because this is the first year Toro Rosso is independently designing their car. Hope similar problem won't happen to the three new teams.
Good thing the Massa incident didn't happen again.

And all the while, he was still turning the wheel, even though he doesn't have any tyres.

balls.

Wow what a bizzare accident. Looks like he is the passenger on his own drive. I wonder why the cable that suppose to hold both tyres failed too. Wouldn't that cable somehow attached to the wheels in case of any accident happens like this. I still remember the days where a tyre spun off at Melbourne GP that kills the stewards. If i'm not mistaken the accident involved with Raft Schumacher. Correct me if im wrong

I have heard of ejector seats but this is ridiculous! It reminds me of the MASK toy vehicles though. hehe
