Yours is a 5AT right? Where did you get both these items? In terms of FC and response, any good? Sorry for being desperate, because I am. I wanna change my muffler...can't stand the stock one...just can't decide which one to change...

bro stepwyew described it perfectly....humming inside the cabin...i guess all s-flow are like that..

bro z edition,
hv u checked out the HKS Silent Hi Power? I think most bros using that one...

Bro Z-Edition...see u alot on the forum but haven't seen u in person lah..when u joining our TT...where r u located???
The muffler choice really depends on yr preference..I would suggest you "audition" yrself on which brand suits you better. I have heard the FGK Power Getter and they sound quite "loud" when compare to the TRD or HKS Silent Hi-Power. I believe the FGK are straight flows whereas the TRD and Silent are S-flow type muffler. But all the muffler will improve performance regardless except for the diff in noise level (they are actually classified in dB's)

Hey bro Ryonan..still thinking of selling yr TRD muffler ahh...hehehe.
Wanna change to a FGK complete system...hehehe.

greytezza..
drove my car a lot over the weekend...
dunno..i think it sounds better now...bit more grunt compared to first day...
maybe need some time to get used to it..

same like when i bought my car dulu...really hated the loud sound...
but after a while and until now, really like the sound..

z-edition,
what dont u like abt the stock muffler? is it the sound or performance? coz i never had stock muffler before so i dont know..
but i do believe in terms of sound, its almost the same wif all s-flows...

Hey Ryonan...was your car that u bought from Mutiara the same yellow Altezza that was feature in Hypertune when they were doing an aritcle on Mutiara Motors..
Looks the same except for the carbon fibre hood...

Bro Greytezza, sorry for not joining TTs, life of a married man...forever busy...work...family...if lucky...then only get a chance to 'layan' the car...location: KLIA...
So, if Power Getter is straight flow, I remember someone mentioned that straight flows aren't good for Autos...is that true? Sorry, bit blurlah...
Also, in terms of sound, I don't mind if it's loud a bit, but I prefer those nice loud ones, not the one that sounds like those cheap customs for national cars...yucks!!!

Bro ryonan, stock looks in bad shape...just need a shiny, big one lah...;)
The stock sound is actually quite good...it's not too loud in the cabin, just enough for you to know that you're stepping on the gas pedal...but on the outside, it's enough to let people know that the car means business...bro, if you never had stock, so what came with the car when you bought it?

Greytezza,

hehee...yup i bought the car from mutiara boss..he used it only for abt 9 months..
actually his wife was driving it..singer actress juliana banos...hehehee..
altho he left lot of greddy stuffs in the car (one of which was the muffler), he took back the carbon fibre bonnet, carbon fibre side mirros, TRD red seats and TE37 rims..

z edition,
the car came with stock muffler but the mutiara boss installed the muffler hence i never got to hear the stock sound..
if u like the stock sound, then there's no choice but to get s-flow

anyway in case u not aware:-

"power" is associated with Horsepower..and to increase HP is to reduce as much as restriction as possible....even better dont put muffler at all!..
so when going very fast i.e. high RPM ur car will go faster and faster...
therefore : power = straight flow (eg power getter)

"torque" is pulling power...and for this you need some restriction..notably in the extractor and muffler..
u will not gain any HP (maybe even loss some) but your torque with improve with some restriction in the muffler...more important your driveability will improve
therefore : torque = s-flow (stock, trd, tanabe, fujitsubo)

hope this helps..

p/s at the end of the day, it depends on the engine. altezza engine is quite powerful so exhausts will not make THAT much difference..

Actually I was looking at the past issues during my normal "sitting" period in the loo when I came across the articles and pictures. And I said to myself ..that looks like ryonan's car..hehehe...so itchified mouth want to ask you..
Why he wants the carbon fibre hood..you should make him throw everything thing in lah...hehehe

Bro ryonan...so that's your car...nice one...
Thanks for the info...I'd rather improve on Torque than HP...but, if there's not much improvement...then the final say goes to the looks of the muffler...mmmm...which one looks better...any thoughts?

greytezza,
u sure u dun keep "other" magazines in the loo? ;)
i fell in love wif the car and forgot to negotiate..hehehee..
furthermore when he put up for sale, he oredi taken out the stuffs..
maybe he got other altezza buddies he want to sell to..

z-edition,
the HKS altho looks like straight flow, its got this small barrel running in parallel with the main body...so maybe it behaves like an s-flow...i dunno...
some stock mufflers like the integra DC5 is a s-flow with a valve inside...
it will behave like an s-flow by default...but when u ram, the valve opens and let more exhaust out, hence behave like straight flow...
cool stuff...hehehe...

dun forget to cek out Tom's also. its full stainless steel.

yes ,

My ride is RS200 5AT , I bought it in TOMS located in Bangsar in the year 2005 . Well there is improvement compare to original std stock but please dont hope that the improvement huge :)

Z-Edition..
Yes it does sound like that..very deep bassy rumble..especially when you are driving in a basement carpark..:).
And when you rev it high..it would not scream but rather growl like a tiger..hehehe. It is slightly louder than the stock muffler.

Ryonan...

I better not keep any of the "other" mags in the loo coz I am not the only one using it :) :)..
Come to think of it..I do have other mags in the loo..Tech Stuff..Max It..Banzai..Hot 4 Wheels...hehehe..and some newspaper tooo...
Reading the loo runs in the family....hehehe
