Recommend me a graphic card

i have a budget of RM500...

n i m more into architectural modelling n a bit of rendering...

i would prefer a 256MB card so guys any recommendations? model n specs would be appreciated... do brand name matters? i hear got funny brand like albatron all taht kind.. but will sticking wif MSI or etc guarantee better quality?

msi gcard is not so good... the circuit board got abit of problem. why not using abit or asus... or u want a cheaper one.. powercolor can do the job. anyways what type of gpu are u intrested in nvidia or ati?

nvidia or ATI also i have no problem, no preference ...but if i do lots of modelling n some rendering i heard ATI is better cos got more colours...

wat u guys think? wat r da better brands? like i said budget RM500 n best if 256 MB RAM

hmmm... i guess both of the gpu's are okay... both have pros and cons. anyways i will suggest nvidia fx5700 with 256mb ram. u can go for gigabyte or abit board.. the price is around ur range la rm500 +-. happy rendering bro...

seriously, RM500 for a 256mb makes not different in speed for rendering. coz they running 4 pipeline. Still slow. But if budget then no choice loh. If really just for 3d rendering. try matrox. better. but not sure the price.

i actually had FX5700 in my mind alredi.... nvr really into ATI anyway....

powercolor isn't using ati or nvidia chipsets, right?
they're using something else which at the moment i can't remember but its a good design and card unfortunately not many software have full support for it :(

my housemate got powercolor using ati chipset 1 wor.. but around 2-3years d... card onli hav 64mb..

erm, if I'm not mistaken, ATi produces the technology (chipsets) and licences it out to makers like ASUS, MSI etc. They also do produce their own graphics cards too if I remember :)

Nvidia n ATI r 2 different chipset technology only in market.... they just licensed it for manufacturers like wat u said to build graphic cards... u know la... some tech-unsavvy ppl like Jia Jia sometimes gets it all confused up :) but da question is which is da better brand/manufacturer in terms of build quality? n reliability?

Inno3D is probably a good budget deal, but if I'm not mistaken their cards heat up quite a bit. Not too sure about the card makers like ASUS, MSI etc. Gainward is pretty solid, but expensive.

Personally it all depends on you. But what I do know is that if you wish to extend your games into two monitors (CAD programs I'm not too sure about), Nvidia is the way because ATi only supports duplicate images for games on both screens(extended desktop for Windows does work however). ATi also has a much better DVI output. ATi drivers probably aren't as good as Nvidia, but it has improved a bit in the past couple of months.

I'm not too sure if 256 is really necessary unless your card is capable of utilizing it (say ATi 9800XT and above). I have been running fine on a 128MB Grandmars 9800Pro for a year now, it hasn't given me any problems that I can recall right now.
