6.5 inch rim width +35mm offset

vs

6.0 inch rim + 45mm offset

Which is better, pros/cons & issues?
...wheel weight?
...handling?
...steering weight?
...tyre rubbing wheel wheel

carnage....thx...this is good info.....

that's the outside of the tire right? Cornering?

Offset

OFFSET

That's because most of the middle priced wider mags sold have the wrong offset for the car. That is, the increased width has been added to the outside of the wheel causing it to rub on the inner guard. This also radically changes the suspension characteristics resulting in excessive tyre wear, premature wheel bearing failure, heavier steering and poor turn-in.

Ideally, any increased width should be proportionately split between the inner and outer mount face dimensions keeping the offset in approximately the same position relative to the wheels overall width. Doing otherwise will change the "track" or distance between the wheels which is optimised by the designer for best performance. This may not always be possible but try to avoid excessive changes in this ratio.

for what car?

for EK i think 6.5JJ to 7.0JJ & offset +35 to +45 should be okie

Unless using spoon calipers.. I forgot which offset didn't work.. 45 or 42.. with advan RG rims with one of those offset.. the base didn't clear the spoon calipers... so that's something to remember.

mine 15x7jj offset +35 with 195/60/15 tyres......on EJ7....last time front rubbing a bit when corner kaw2...then i change to new tokico abs to pair with my eibach pro kit...problem solved..

Bigger Offset = less clearance for Calipers

As offset gets BIGGER (i.e. from +35mm to +42mm) - wheel will "pushed into" the body more.

=> will mean clearance problems with SPOON calipers

Who has a database of 15 X 6.5inch and 15 X 7 inch rims (with offset) which fit SPOON calipers

- Regamaster
- SSR Type C
- TE37
