Digital printing has a higher cost per page than more traditional offset printing methods but this price is usually offset by the cost saving in avoiding all the technical steps in between needed to make printing plates. It also allows for on demand printing, short turn around, and even a modification of the image (variable data) with each impression.[2] The savings in labor and ever increasing capability of digital presses means digital printing is reaching a point where it will match or supersede offset printing technologies ability to produce larger print runs at a low price.[3]<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_printing" target="_blank">Digital printing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:Crystal_Clear_action_run.png" class="image">[ATTACH=full]701981[/ATTACH]thumb/5/5d/Crystal_Clear_action_run.png/30px-Crystal_Clear_action_run.png</a>Easier way to explain , it's just like your ordinary laser or inkjet printers at home or office.When do we use Offset Printing ?Offset machines are meant to deliver high volumes which supersedes the speed of digital printing.Eg : 250 000 of A4 flyers or brochures etcWhen do we use Digital Printing ?When small quantity is needed that can be produced almost immediately.Eg : Digital namecards , invitation cards etcWhat's the difference in colour ?Both is practically the same , using the combination of CMYK which are Cyan , Magenta , Yellow and Black but offset uses ink and digital uses powder instead.I have to stretch the point that if compared side by side , offset colours are better than digital , no doubt about that.What's the difference in cost ?Digital printing are not ideal for large volume outputs as they are not built for such ordeal.Large quantity using offset printing are cheaper than digital and it also depends on the colour usage.What are the known as full colour ?Full colour means it's a combination of 4 colours laid on top of each other to produce an image. The four colours are known as Cyan (blue) , Magenta ( Red) , Yellow and Black or for short known as CMYK.For eg : take anything colourful around you , for eg: a DVD cover , you can actually count how many colours is it.What are special colour ?Gold , Silver and Metalic that requires a single type of ink to represent it.How does offset and digital works ?Artwork ( AI format ) --> colour separation --> Film (positive or negative) --> Expose on Plate --> Machine --> Output or :-Artwork ( AI format ) --> colour separation --> CTP (without involvement of film) --> machine --> output.CTP doesn't involve exposure on plate because it is embedded using a CTP machine.If one-off job , then most likely CTP will be used , but repeating jobs , film output is more cost efficient.Artwork ( AI format ) --> Laser Printer / Inkjet --> output.How do we know we get the right colour of your choice ?We make use of our Pantone Book , a Pantone book is sort of like a formula guide where mixture of ink to get the desired colour.
