microtech LT8S w/ handset prob...

Hi guys....yes... its me again.... sigh recently I've been hit with a bad streak of luck!!!!
first my gb thn car cant start.... car start already now my handset cant work with my lt8s...
i searched ard the net and googled trying to look for an ans...but it seems no one is having this problem @@

anyhoos i donno if microtech is popular amongst you guys coz i think most of u guys who are running standalones are using P-FC ?

anyway i in a nutshell.... i got a handset...and i am running a lt8s.... but both cant work together...
the handset works in my bro's 7 but not in mine.... all this balone is driving me bonkers!
Do I need a dongle for this to work ? coz I tot i only need the dongle if i am using a laptop to run the programme and not for the handset?

k guys i received an email from microtech. they said that it might be due to a faulty serial connector.
how is that possible if that same port is used to tune the car in the first place? anyone running microtech in here? is a adaptor needed in order to use the handset? pls advise
