Just tc'ed my spectra. Help needed!

Using td04, wif intercooler and bov etc..the problem is that at 1-3 gear..i dint get any boost...only when at 3rd gear, and when speed is near to 100kph,then the boost slowly creeps up..at 4th gear i dint get any boost..and at 5th >130kph, then it's at 0.5..

so what is the problem? is it suppose to be like dis? i drove my fren's rex before and it wasnt like dis..

mebbe becos ive not fixed any ems? im looking for one which is compatible e.g microtec but frm wat i was told..it cant be used?

already in plans are ems, injectors and bc...have yet to find injectors that are compatible too ;)

any help is appreciated...tanx!

turbo boost lag

Hi Toms69,

Pls bear in mind, I'm no expert on turbocharging.

But what i know and also common sense tells me (based on ur info)....

1>ur turbine is too big. Turbos rely on exhaust gas to spin the turbine...so if ur engine cc too small to create boost (at ur desired rpm) then u need a smaller turbine. Or use back that turbo and spin ur engine at higher rpm. means u need to lighten ur engine internals, free flow exhaust, harder valve springs etc etc. basically building a race engine. if thats what u want

2>intercooler too big/ inefficient. too much pressure drop.

3>exhaust manifold and/or intake piping too big. Bigger not necessarily better. Cos bigger piping although has the ability to flow more, u lose out on the velocity/speed of air in piping.

someone pls correct me if u think im wrong.........

btw, may i know where u did up ur bolt on turbo?
 
For xzos, its already 1.34", operated rear muffler, open cat and free flow centre. td04 is one of the smallest turbo that i noe off..its more to fast to spool, fast to finish :)..for the intercooler, its abt 25cm long x 07cm thick..

Hi,
may i know the engine capacity of the rex compared to your spectra?
if urs smaller, then its no surprise the rex will create more boost at same rpm.........


also, may i know where u bolt on ur turbo?

I am currently working in JB semi permanent. So i have the option to bolt on here in JB or when i go back to KL side.....

How's ur turbo now? Still lagging? Try remove ur intercooler n see... How's the turbo manifold done? Maybe the construction lags ur boost..

isnt 1.34 inch really small? a lot or turbo cars are using 2.5 inch.

i think he was referring to the manifold/extractor piping.
yea i agree 1.34" too small for turbo exhaust piping....
