Boston Acoustics Introduces Generator Series Automotive Subwoofers and Subwoofer Systems
Boston Acoustics Continues Tradition of Offering High-Impact Subwoofers with New Line

CES, LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Adding to its extensive line of automotive aftermarket subwoofers, Boston Acoustics introduced its new Generator Series subwoofers and Generator subwoofer systems. Following in the tradition of the ProSeries and Competitor Series subwoofers, the Generator Series offers excellent low frequency performance in seven different configurations. The Generator subwoofers offer clean, deep bass in very compact enclosures-allowing them to be placed virtually anywhere in a vehicle. The Generator subwoofers are available in 15-inch, 12-inch and 10-inch sizes and are priced between $179 and $119 ea. MSRP.

The Generator Subwoofer Systems incorporate Generator Series subwoofers in an acoustic suspension enclosure, rigidly constructed of MDF, which is barely larger than the driver cones themselves. The Generator GS210 houses two 10- inch subwoofers. The GS115, GS112, and GS110 each house a single subwoofer of 15-inch, 12-inch, and 10-inch diameter respectively.

The technology that makes the Boston Acoustics Generator Series a tough performer is Boston's exclusive DirectVent(TM) cooling system. The Generator subwoofers employ Boston's DirectVent Technology, a unique and innovative approach to cooling subwoofers in high-power conditions. Air channels are tooled right into the motor assembly of the speaker allowing cool air to circulate around the entire voice coil.

The air is pumped in and out of the voice coil area by the pistonic action of the subwoofer's spider, directing the air at the hottest part of the coil -- its uppermost edge. This allows the subwoofer to handle an extreme amount of power without the danger of overheating.

Coupled with the heavily braced copolymer cones and balanced suspension, Generator Series subwoofers handle a tremendous amount of power, enabling very high output levels, while delivering strong, detailed bass reproduction. The Generator Subwoofers' one-piece surround/gasket design combines a perfect seal with a material that is impervious to environmental extremes found in the automotive environment.

Designed to operate well in either sealed or ported enclosures, all the subwoofers use DCD(TM) (Deep Channel Design) pole plates, which allow for extreme cone excursion while eliminating the chance of voice coil bottoming. The DCD pole plates are computer designed using Boston's Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to optimize the geometry of the pole plate while maximizing the transfer of magnetic energy to the voice coil gap.
