ARC has built its reputation by designing some of the best direct replacement parts in Japan. They use superior materials such as Titanium and quality Aluminium to produce some of the more attractive parts on the market without compromising on quality. They focus on cooling technology, exhausts and other products like these.
The ARC intercooler core is made from aluminium and will perform the task of cooling air that has been compressed by a turbocharger. This super heated air (sometimes up to 190 degrees) in the closed system reduces combustion efficiency and is therefore cooled by the outside air hitting the intercooler at speed returning it to near ambient. Lightweight tubing and fins of Aluminium are used due to their superior thermal conductivity.
Heat exchange is also affected by the temperature of external air passing by the intercooler and the resistance inside the intercooler required to effectively transfer heat. Pressure loss is also a factor and a trade-off between these should dictate the selected intercooler.
