The relationship between Reiter Engineering and Lamborghini needs no further introduction as the famed workshop has been prepping race version of the Raging Bull’s road cars for quite a while. And since the GT1 race series is no longer around, Reiter Engineering can focus their attention in refining the Gallardo GT3 and had come up with a new one for 2015.

It is called the Reiter Gallardo Extenso R-EX and while it is still based on the now-decommissioned Gallardo, the touches Reiter had thrown in makes it a competitive machine for today’s racing. A “far-reaching and comprehensive facelift” of the FL2, the Extenso is described by owner Hans Reiter as an evolution of the FL2.

“Basically the idea behind the Extenso was to create a more drivable car for semi-professional drivers. The FL2 was already a fast car, but mainly in the hands of platinum drivers. Our intention was to change that,” he added.

The Extenso is now wider than the FL2 from 1,920mm to 2,050mm – the maximum permissible width for the FIA GT3 race series – and the rear axle track has been increased by 13cm. some weight shedding has also been done by lowering the weight from 1,190kg to 1,175kg through the usage of a new carbon rear fender. As for the power, new racing camshafts have been installed to increase the car’s torque and the new Mahle pistons improve reliability and reducing the fuel consumption. Not to forget it also gets a new set of headlights and rear lights to go with a new look.

The Reiter Gallardo Extenso GT3 will be eligible for races like the Pirelli World Challenge, Blancpain GT series and the newly formed SRO GT Sports Club. If you are looking forward in joining any of these races with the Extenso, you’d better have deep pockets as the race car itself will cost you USD 309,500 (RM 1,059,650).
