Super GT International Series Malaysia – GT Cars & GT Girls Are Back In Town

gt

Inspired by the success of the just concluded Formula One Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix, Sepang International Circuit (SIC) now prepares itself to welcome the Super GT International Series which will be held from 20th to 22nd June. A combination of GT machines and GT Queens at the worlds most technically challenging circuit may just prove to be the perfect combination for a highly-charged race and a thrilling weekend.

The 2008 installment of the Malaysian leg of the Super GT series is also the ninth edition of what has become Sepang’s second most popular event after Formula 1. In fact, the absurd costs associated with Formula 1 and its no outsiders allowed policy seems to be working against Bernie and his crew with people now turning their attention to the the Super GT Series even rating it higher than Formula 1.

Track action meets all expectations of how road cars are supposed to be raced and unlike Formula 1, there are no clear favourites. With world class highly experienced drivers, any of the competing teams are capable of taking home a few trophies and ultimately the championship. And to further enhance the spirit of fairness and competition, winners of the previous rounds carry weight handicaps; providing advantage and incentives for other drivers to charge for victory. Also an attraction for visitors will be the appearance of the already legendary Nissan GT-R.

And now the best part for non race fans, the GT Queen; idolised as celebrities with some even more famous than the racing drivers, the race queens make the Super GT International Series among the friendliest and most inviting of races.

For this year’s race, tickets are currently being offered for 50% off their normal price but are expected to be sold out soon. The 50% percent promotion tickets, however, are only available at the ticketing counter at SIC or the SIC Ticketing Office at KL Central. And racing fans this year will have a unique opportunity to catch the race action from the sky. SIC has arranged for several hot-air balloons to be strategically located at several vantage points to allow perfect view of the racing, including the support races; Asian Touring Car Series, the Asian GT Challenge, the Asian Formula Renault Challenge, Formula BMW Pacific and the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

I may be wrong, but the last 2 pics look like GT5 screenshots to me. Or perhaps videogames now are just too real-looking.
