It's been a while since I last logged or visited here. :P

I'm currently using Tein Superstreet, and it's far too stiff for my liking. I need a new set of dampers (and spring, I need to check if I'm using standard or not). It's already set to the softest allowable, and the ride is still a bone-jarring one.

I'm looking for something close to OEM firmness, so any recommendations?

I am also using a set of tein superstreet and they are very comfortable to me.

Whats your spring rate in front and the rear, and whats the setting you put for the dampers?

mine:

front spring = 8kg/mm damper setting at 6(hard)
rear spring = 6kg/mm damper setting at 8(in the middle)

they are fine and very comfortable. you can feel that the teins have good road holding capability n none bone jarring even when going over lousy roads(the car doesnt rattle and have a clean controlled rebound).

However I do also have a set of used yellow trd shocks(adjustable 5 steps) and the sportivo white springs(frt n rear about 5.2kg/mm each)...took out last week. These are comfy but a bit too low for me. Springs are low down springs from original about 20mm. Comfy springs compared to the originals(too soft!) Yellow shocks are adjustable. These shocks are very long lasting but if set too hard, CAN be bone jarring.

Few choices you can consider:

1. get the blue sportivos coilover set
white springs..like mine) + blue shocks brand new.
I had these before but I find them too soft..they may be good for you.

2. go back for the original shocks n springs

3. original shocks + harder springs(like the white sportivo--oem fit) or tein springs s tech. Dunt worry about too low becoz you can add spacers to make your ride height higher.

4. or you can consider my 2nd hand set as well. Price I dunno yet.

good luck

Bro green,

I checked my car just now and the settings are as below:

Front: 3 or 4
Rear: 8 or 10 (wtf?)

I've set the rear to 0 (all the way counter clockwise), and the ride is indeed much much softer. I'll fine tune it when I bring the car for routine service in like a few days' time.

Thanks for the advice.. I might try out your settings later. :D

So moral of the story is.. even though the workshop says they did some work on your car, be sure to check them yourself. I blindly took their word that it's the softest setting they put on my car, and it gave me a rough ride for almost 4 months.

glad to hear that!!

remember to set them all the way clockwise (thats the hardest setting) then reverse up in subsequent steps as u like(anti-clockwise). This is how my foreman set mine.

good luck n no problem, glad to help

yup agree with Green...

Tein superstreet are very comfy if you get the settings right..

New bushings will also help a lot

Haha I'll look at the bushings when I get back from JB. How's your Polo doing? :D

hi bro, im using tein super street too, last time i got try to email tein to ask about the suspension, from wat u say on top, the suspension canot set anti clockwise maximum and will spoil the coilover.

this is wat i get from the email

"Depending on the design of the shock absorber and the varieties of small
parts, click may go beyond 16 clicks. But no damping force change can be
made beyond 16 levels from full still position.

Please DO NOT PASS the 16 level because it will damage the coilover."

my setting was anticlockwise 8 click from maximum hard (hard = max clockwise) for front and anti clockwise 10 click max from hard for the back. and it feel just right to me.

Bro aycy,

I was just gonna ask why the spring should be set from the hardest to softest and not the other way around last time, but you just answered it. Actually I went and rectified my suspension right after reading your post, but only today got time to reply.

You're correct, since for the 2 days i use my setting, the front shocks often compress all the way which isn't right at all. I readjusted according to your advice and they work fine now.
