Looks like we now have an SUV shootout in our hands as Bentley is not the only one who had come up with a new SUV. Jaguar has officially stepped into the game as well and their entry is the new F-Pace crossover. Aside from the online reveal, this new crossover also made its debut at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show.
The F-Pace will be built on Jaguar’s Lightweight Aluminium Architecture and will be powered by both petrol and diesel engines with outputs of around 178-horsepower to 375-horsepower. Customers will be able to choose between a 177-horsepower 2.0-liter diesel manual AWD/RWD and automatic AWD, a 237-horsepower 2.0-liter automatic RWD, a 296-horsepower 3.0-liter diesel automatic AWD, and a 335-horsepower and 375-horsepower 3.0-liter automatic AWD.
The body structure is mostly made out of aluminium for a light and stiff construction, with magnesium thrown in the mix as well. This had resulted the 178-horsepower diesel manual to weigh only 1,665kg and achieving CO2 emissions of only 128g/km. Since the 375-horsepower variant gets a supercharged V6 from the F-Type, zerotohundred takes only 5.1 seconds and has an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.
Since they are under the same company, the F-Pace benefits from sister company Land Rover’s expertise with the Adaptive Surface Response, developed form the Terrain Response technology. The ASR identifies the type of surface and optimizes the mapping of the drivetrain and the Dynamic Stability Control system.
