Thanks to the sheer heat on Saturday, Clearwater Racing’s McLaren MP4-12C struggled to maintain pace with the much quicker Ferrari 458 GT3 pair driven by team-mates Mok Weng Sun and Keita Sawa and BBT’s Davide Rizzo and Anthony Liu. The McLaren was also tailing behind NB Team’s Aston Martin Vantage GT3.
Mike Racing’s Mercedes Benz SLS GT3 suffered a DNF on Saturday
Keita Sawa, managed to set one of the fastest lap during qualifying, giving him and team-mate Mok Weng Sun a good advantage during that day’s race.
Moving onto the second race on Sunday, which was raining since morning, Alessandro Guidi and Richard Wee, piloted the Clearwater Racing Ferrari 458 GT3 to victory, giving the team another win at Sepang. Looks like the choice to change to slick tires was a good choice made by Richard Wee, since the track dried out relatively quickly. Clocking a fastest lap of 2:08:543, they were ahead of NB Team’s Aston Martin Vantage GT3 and Craft Bamboo Racing’s Aston Martin Vantage GT3.
As for FUN88 Racing, they managed 11th position on Saturday and on Sunday. Impressively, their Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 GT3 managed one of the fastest lap times during the race, clocking at 2:08:313.
