When Seat breached the seven-minute barrier to go around the Nurburgring with their new Leon Cupra 280, the front-wheel drive world went absolutely berserk. Held previously by the Renault Megane, they then came out with the RS 275 Trophy and reclaimed the title; but it was Seat who managed to do so first.

Of course, the Leon Cupra 280 used for breaking the ‘Ring record was set up specifically for the task, featuring a list of tantalizing upgrades. And to satisfy the hearts and minds of the enthusiasts, Seat had recently released the ‘Sub8 Performance Pack’ for those who wanted to make their Leon Cupra 280 sharper than it already is.

The first thing that Seat paid attention to is the stopping power, and the Sub8 Performance Pack comes with uprated brakes. The 370mm discs are 30mm larger than those found in the standard Leon Cupra 280, and come with Brembo four-piston calipers. These brakes are nicely tucked behind a set of 19-inch alloy wheels available in either black or orange. Customers could also opt for the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and a set of racing bucket seats.

Earlier this year, the Seat Leon Cupra 280 smashed the front-wheel drive production car record around the Nurburgring with a lap time of 7 minutes and 58.4 seconds. While that was an amazing feat, their stay on the throne was not long as Renault made a stunning comeback with the Megane RenaultSport 275 Trophy-R in May with a timing of 7 minutes and 54.3 seconds.
