Aston Martin Lagonda, Middle East Bound!

lagonda-2014-news

Luxurious and exclusive has found a new name. This time around, feast your eyes on the new Aston Martin Lagonda. Aston Martin has reused this nameplate for a Middle East exclusive model. The first Lagonda came out in the 1970s and has recently been seen fit to be reused.

Aston Martin says that the Lagonda is only offered for sale via invitation only, and actual pricing remains strictly confidential, to maintain the Lagonda’s status as exclusive and luxurious.

The Aston Martin Lagonda will be build on the company’s flexible VH platform, and will pay homage to the 1976 Lagonda. The upcoming Lagonda will also feature the use of carbon fibre in body panels. Aston Martin is also proud to announce that the Lagonda will be hand built by their finest craftsmen.

Technical specifications are not known as yet, but taking the Rapide as an example, we’re guessing that the upcoming Lagonda should be powered by the same 5.9L V12 engine, likely having upwards 470hp and 601NM of torque. Again, these are speculations as Aston Martin remains tight lipped on the official specifications.

Design Director Marek Reichman of Aston Martin was quoted, “The debut of this luxury super saloon in the Middle East market will be an exciting moment not only for Aston Martin, but for discerning customers who are seeking the ultimate in luxury and personalisation.

“The new model, like its exclusive siblings the One-77 and V12 Zagato, has been created as a piece of exceptional automotive art. It has been designed and developed entirely in keeping with the spirit and ethos of previous Lagonda super saloons – notably the William Towns Lagonda – and as a tribute to this car it proudly bears the Lagonda nameplate.”

Do stay tuned as and when the Lagonda is officially launched in the Middle East and more photos are made available.

Discovered the automotive scene by chance. Hooked on ever since. Can be found quite often in Sepang, just snapping photos and observing people.
