Lighter, Grumpier, and a Whole Lot Faster – the new Nissan GT-R Nismo Leaked Ahead of its Official Debut at Tokyo!

Ever since Nissan’s motorsport division, Nismo expressed their wish in making a hardcore version of the GT-R, the whole world anxiously waited for what they could come out with. Keeping auto enthusiasts at the edge of their seats, Nissan announced that they will reveal this highly-anticipated supercar killer at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show alongside with its Nurburgring lap time; but apparently that is not going to happen.

Thanks (or no thanks) to the power of the internet, this specially-tuned version of the GT-R was leaked ahead of its debut at Tokyo and it is now for the world to see. Say hello to the Nissan R35 GT-R Nismo.

Going straight to the fun part, the GT-R Nismo is reportedly hosting 595-horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque from its twin-turbocharged V6 engine. This is possible due to the revised intake and exhaust system, new ignition timing and enlarged turbos adapted from the ones found in the GT-R Nismo GT3 race car. And not to forget, the GT-R Nismo now has an updated exterior, donning a special body kit that includes new front and rear bumpers, side skirt and a new spoiler. Zerotohundred time? 2.5 seconds.

With an extra 50-horsepower from the regular GT-R, the GT-R Nismo is said to have lapped the famous Nurburgring at an astonishing 7:08.69. Although that is already a blisteringly-fast lap time, it has still yet to beat the lap time set by Porsche’s 918 Spyder at 6:57. Then again, Porsche’s hybrid supercar is far more powerful than Nissan’s road rocket, and not to forget the price difference as well.

The GT-R Nismo comes with stiffer springs and dampers, and larger anti-roll bars. The dampers are electrically adjustable and come with three settings to choose from – Track, Race and Race Plus. But if one is dead serious in killing every excess millisecond availabel, there will be an optional track package which some are calling it the Williams F1 track pack. Since there is now a special connection between Williams and Nismo, this F1 pack brings manually adjustable Ohlins dampers into the picture, as well as some carbon fiber components and fixed race seats to shave 65kg away from the original weight.

So far, only two pictures have been leaked into the net, but more will surely come when the car is officially unveiled at Tokyo Motor Show in a few days’ time.
