The Mclaren P1
Gracing with its presence at the McLaren Kuala Lumpur opening was the brand’s latest hypercar, the McLaren P1. The long-awaited successor to the legendary McLaren F1 is powered by the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine in the 12C, however it is mated to a hybrid electric motor to generate a maximum output of 903bhp and instant torque of 900nm at your right foot’s disposal. With production limited to only 375 units worldwide, the super exclusive McLaren P1 is the ultimate expression of McLaren’s engineering expertise.
Moving ahead with time – the McLaren P1 sits amongst the new generation of Hybrid Hypercars. Bringing the future to the present, the brand carries its racing heritage and technological know-how into the new P1 by combining their current 3.8-litre V8 Twin-Turbocharged engine with an electric motor; ensuring no compromise in performance. Designed from ground up to be the by-word in ultimate performance, the McLaren P1 offers relentless acceleration courtesy of the electric motors and optimised turbos working as a collective to catapult the P1 from Zerotohundred in just 2.8 seconds and reaching 200km/h in under 7 seconds – quicker than most hot hatches to reach half the speed.
Hand built to perfection at McLaren’s state-of-the-art Production Centre (MPC) in Woking, England – McLaren only intends on bringing to life 375 examples. With analytic levels of attention to detail, the build requires 400 hours of skilled professional work from start to finish; involving 82 of the company’s finest technicians in the four-stage assembly process. Priced at £866,000 before options, the P1 sits amongst the royals of Hypercars and crowned as a worthy successor to the McLaren F1.
