A1 Team Malaysia has prepared itself for the New Year with new resolutions. In 2009 the team hopes to build on their current form, with everyone within the team working hard over the December month to ready themselves for a fresh attack on the A1GP Championship. The team has put together a list of ten New Year resolutions which they aim to fulfil in the next 12 months…
1. Quicker pitstops
Even though A1 Team Malaysia is one of the top ten quickest teams, the mechanics have still been practising the pitstops. The team has been using every opportunity since the Sepang race to work on their wheel changes and timing. Hopefully next year the team will reap the rewards of this hard work.
2. Better Fitness
Fairuz Fauzy has been focusing hard on his fitness abilities during the winter break from A1GP. As a racing driver there’s no workout which is quite as strenuous as actually being in the cockpit of the car, however Fauzy has been pushing to maintain his high fitness levels between races. Fauzy enjoys running in the woods near his UK home in Silverstone, and visiting the gym regularly. Being in peak physical condition aids a driver’s concentration and stamina during a race. Similarly, the mechanics may be having a rest from racing, but they also need to keep fit for the pitstops and maintain their stamina for the long and arduous race weekends. Even the commercial team intends turning a new leaf in 2009 to ensure that they are fitter than ever!
3. Team Building
A1 Team Malaysia is renowned for its high level of team work. In 2009 the team wishes to build on these solid foundations in every way. The team strives to constantly improve this and all of the A1 Team Malaysia mechanics are pushing to improve the team work dynamics to be an unstoppable force in 2009.
4. Grabbing the headlines for our partners
A1 Team Malaysia has a host of sponsors and partners who have worked alongside the team since the inaugural season and to reward their loyalty the team expects to give them plenty of headline grabbing performances in 2009.
5. Outreach
The team’s Outreach programme assists communities country-wide that are less privileged than others by helping in small, meaningful ways to change people’s lives for the better. A1 Team Malaysia intends to continue their support and pledges to further help those less fortunate by undertaking two Outreach activities in 2009.
6. Beat our Sepang attendance record
During the 2008/09 season, the A1GP race at Sepang in November 2008 was attended by a record breaking 47,000 A1GP fans. For the November 2009 event the team aims to increase the number of spectators in the grandstands working closely with all the team’s commercial partners to see the largest A1GP turnout ever at Sepang by Malaysians supporting their nation.
7. More Malaysian focused fan activities
A1 Team Malaysia hopes to improve the fan activities, especially during the off season. Between June and September, A1 Team Malaysia pledges to bring the World Cup of Motorsport to the Malaysian fans, bringing along the team’s new A1GP simulator, driver appearances, show car and much more.
8. Win another A1GP Award
We won the Most Popular Team award at the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport awards in May this year and we will endeavour to capture at least one ‘gong’ in 2009. We’ll need your help though!
9. Recruit more fans to support A1 Team Malaysia
A1 Team Malaysia has a passionate and dedicated group of supporters who follow the team through their highs and lows after the successful start of the 2008/09 season the team are aiming to increase its fan base. The Fanzone section on the team’s website is a thriving part of the teams’ relationship with its supporters, and currently there are over 30,000 fans signed up. The team aims to increase this further during the forthcoming year and hopefully there will be in excess of 50,000 signed up members in the next 12 months. Sign up now and help us keep this New Year’s resolution!
10. Win more races – secure more points
The team started the 2008/09 A1GP season off extremely well with the win in Zandvoort and by leading the Championship for much of the first part of the season. However we will not rest on our laurels and we will endeavour at all times to win more races this year for the pride of the nation in the continued pursuit of the championship.
And as always, we Malaysians will be behind their one hope at world motoring glory and we at Zerotohundred.com wish them the best for 2009 and also as always – you can count on us to bring you the latest A1 Team Malaysia news.
