Known to have created some of the most unique looking cars we have ever seen, Zagato had recently unveiled another special creation at the recent 2015 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Held on the shores of Lake Como in Italy, Zagato has a history of bringing new creations to the event with recent collaborations includes Aston Martin, BMW and Lamborghini.

This time partnering with Maserati, the coachbuilder recently unveiled their new masterpiece called the Mostro, which to us looks absolutely stunning. Powered by Maserati, this new concept was built to honour the Maserati 450 S Coupe Zagato race car nicknamed the Monster. The Monster was designed back in 1957 with Frank Costin, a specialist in aerodynamics, and built in Zagato Milan’s home for the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the request of Sir Stirling Moss.

The Mostro or “Monster” in Italian will see a limited production run of five cars and all of them have already been sold. Like the original Monster, the Mostro was built with racing in mind but at the same time being road-legal as well. The car is built around a hybrid structure of steel and carbon fiber with virtually all of the exterior body panels being made out of the lightweight material.

Powering the car is a dry-sumped V8 mounted in a front midship position, sending the power to the rear tires via a six-speed, semi-automatic gearbox mounted at the rear axle. It features double wishbone suspension at both ends with a racing-style pushrod, spring and shock absorber design. The Mostro rolls on Zagato’s own 19-inch wheels with 255/40 tires on the front and 295/35 at the rear.
