With the McLaren P1 GTR inching its way to the Geneva Motor Show to reveal its production form, McLaren figured that this new and hardcore machine would have to go through a ritual before it is worthy of facing the world. Building anticipation of this new track car, McLaren had just released a short video of the new P1 GTR running side-by-side with its predecessor, the legendary F1 GTR.

The F1 GTR is not just any stripped-out supercar as it has the motorsport credentials that had earned it its legendary status. Proving its worth at the 24 Hours of Le Mans back in 1995, it had grabbed the overall win as well as the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 13th places.

As a tribute to this phenomenal race car, the P1 GTR featured in the video is also donning the same livery inspired by the F1 GTR chassis #06R. Aside from shaving off 50kg from the road car’s weight, the P1 GTR also boasts an increased combined output of 1,000-horsepower, thanks to its twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 engine pushing out 800-horsepower and a 200-horsepower electric motor. The body of the car has been aerodynamically optimized to boost downforce by 10-percent, allowing the P1 GTR to generate 660kg of downforce at 241km/h.
