RS Collectif recently mobilized a drive of a barrage of RenaultSport hot hatches up the resort hills, Genting Highlands. Renowned mostly for its breathtaking view, cool weather, amusement facilities and Malaysia’s only legal Casino.
But to the car boys within the Klang Valley vicinity, it is the roads leading up to Genting Highlands that has always been the prime choice for spirited drives and somewhat a proving ground for gauging driving prowess. The carrot at the peak of the mountain? Icy cool breeze, and more recently so, a rewarding cup of Starbucks.
RS Collectif (RS Collectif Malaysia) is Malaysia’s premiere RenaultSport car owners club endorsed by the country’s Renault cars distributor, TC Euro Cars. Unlike most car clubs in this part of the world, RS Collectif doesn’t do car park displays or car wash meets, instead all energy is channeled at capitalizing on the RenaulSport DNA – and that means plenty of drive time.
Track days and Lap times are the main points of excursions and discussions here and and so are hill drives and cross-country drives. It is no surprise why like-minded RSCollectif pilgrims take RenaultSport cars seriously, since they’re all owners of manual-transmission only 250hp and up turbo Megane RS.
However of late, there’s a new breed of RenaultSport cars partaking in the club’s cause these days. Specifically, the younger brother of the Megane RS, the Clio RS. Despite not being manual, the baby RS makes up with lightness at 1200kg, 200hp, quick dual clutch transmission and impressive hot hatch capabilities.
