While we are anxiously waiting for the day the new Acura NSX will hit or at least arrive on our shores, inside information suggests that Honda is already on the works to come up with another sports car dubbed as the ‘baby NSX’. This cheaper, less powerful Honda coupe will be slotted just below the Acura NSX.
This ‘baby NSX’ was reportedly approved for production in mid-2014 and will be using the same platform as the new NSX but fitted with less powerful and less expensive powertrain. The news of this new car has not really gained traction until the appearance of a patent drawing of the car surfaced online.
From the rendering, the patent drawing shares similar proportions to the new NSX, especially this mid-size, mid-engined layout. And that is not the only thing it will share with the NSX as even the wheelbases and power engine positioning seems to be almost identical.
There is not much information available about this new ‘baby NSX’, but it is rumoured that while it will feature the SH-AWD with all-wheel steer like the new NSX, the combustion engine in this new car will come from a turbocharged 2.0-liter hybrid unit.
