Offering consumers “A New Generation of Style and Excitement”, UMW Toyota Motor, manufacturer and distributor of Toyota vehicles in Malaysia, announced the launch of the new Toyota Corolla Altis. Featuring improved styling, advanced technologies and upgraded features, close to 1,000 units have been ordered since November 2013.
First introduced back in 1966, the Toyota Corolla has undergone 10 model changes, and it is one of the world’s popular model line-up with over 40 million units sold in more than 150 countries. This “Global Car” has gone a long way in meeting the customers’ demand, which is why since its Malaysian market introduction back in 2001, close to 64,000 units have been sold.
“We have taken on a more advanced and dynamic approach in the development of the new Corolla Altis and as such, met all of Toyota’s hallmarks – quality, safety, reliability, performance and excellent value,” said Datuk Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor.
The new Corolla Altis is built on a new platform, and the car has been improved to offer better comfort, excellent spaciousness and high quality standards. With an extended wheelbase, the Corolla Altis offers a more spacious cabin and a comfortable driving position. The “modern prestige” exterior styling features a trapezoidal grille design with a chrome-plated bar and LED headlights with DRL.
Under the hood, the engine has been tweaked to provide a smoother and more enjoyable driving experience. Especially in the 2.0V, the rear seat passengers get comfort and luxury usually seen in luxury vehicles like reclining rear seats and illuminated cup holders.
The new Toyota Corolla Altis will be offered in three variants. The 1.8E will be priced at RM 114,000, the 2.0G at RM 123,000, and the range-topping 2.0V will carry a price tag of RM 136,000. All prices are quoted OTR without insurance. They will be available in five colour choices; White Pearl CS, Silver Metallic, Attitude Black, Grey Metallic and Dark Brown Mica Metallic.
