Ever since the Subaru BRZ came to life, enthusiasts have been waiting for a more powerful version of this 2.0-liter rear-wheeler worthy enough to bear the coveted STI badge. Well, Subaru had recently unveiled the new BRZ Series.Blue and thankfully it does come with the much-awaited STI wordings all over.

But do not get too excited yet as although they changed a lot of stuff, none of the work done is under the hood. So if the 200-horsepower boxer engine has been left untouched, what exactly is new on this Series.Blue?

On the outside, this new BRZ gains STI aerodynamic upgrades which includes a front chin spoiler and new rocker panels, black 17-inch alloy wheels, and red brake calipers. New underbody panels are also fitted on the Series.Blue, bringing the drag coefficient from 0.28 to 0.27, and it gets the same chrome exhaust tips as other 2014 BRZ models.

The interior is bathed in leather and Alcantara, as well as blue stitching and trim on various parts. It also gets a frameless rear view mirror, simulated carbon-fiber dashboard panel and an illuminated red engine start-stop button. Only 1,000 of such units will be built by Subaru, where half of them will be painted in the signature WR Blue Pearl paint, and the other half in Crystal White Pearl.
