When four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel is not in the seat of his F1 machine, he spends his time in other cars like in the Infiniti Q50 hybrid, which in this case is to become the first F1 driver to lap the recently completed Sochi Autodrom in Russia.

Although we wished Infiniti brought down the fiercer Q50 Eau Rouge to do the job, the Infiniti Red Bull Racing driver who is also Infiniti’s Director of Performance took the Q50 hybrid for some high speed laps around the Grand Prix circuit. Joining him for the run was former F1 driver David Coulthard, who took some VIP guests and media around the circuit.

Like most recent Formula One circuits, this Sochi Autodrom was designed by German architect Hermann Tilke. The Sochi Autodrom is a street circuit that features 19 turns and is 5.853km in length. The inaugural race is scheduled to take place in October this year.

“Having driven the full circuit for the first time in the Infiniti Q50 today, it’s an interesting layout with a good mix of high-speed corners and technical sections. It’s going to be a huge challenge in a Formula One car for sure, and I’m really looking forward to coming back in October,” said Vettel.
