When McLaren contested in the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans with the F1 GTR, never in their wildest dream that they were actually heading for the overall win for this endurance race. Passing their GT1 counterparts with ease, they surged on to bring the fight to the purpose-built WSC cars and managed to emerge victorious after 24 gruelling hours.
And to commemorate this very special occasion, McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has unveiled the 650S Limited Edition in celebrating the F1 GTR’s victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. McLaren explained this special edition gets its inspiration from the race-winning Chassis #01 F1 GTR. This 650S actually gets a roof scoop and some small fender vents at the front.
MSO had also fitted this Limited Edition with unique forged wheels, orange brake calipers, a carbon fiber splitter, rear bumper and rear diffuser. The car is finished in a special MSO dark blue colour.
Unfortunately nothing has changed on the powertrain where the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 engine still produces 650PS and 500 lb-ft of torque. Zerotohundred is done in 3 seconds and takes only 8.4 seconds to reach 200km/h.
