Since its inception in 1998, the Audi TT has been quite a success for Audi. The first generation Audi TT, which was introduced in 1998, was on the market for a whole eight years. After that, the second generation Audi TT was introduced in early 2006. Boasting sleeker lines than the first generation, the mk2 Audi TT was on the market for 7 years. For the third generation, Audi will publicly unveil the car during the Paris Motor Show, but has already shown some shots of the mk3 Audi TT.

Based on the Volkswagen Group MQB platform, the new Audi TT will have a range of engine choices for buyers to choose from. Entry level Audi TT will feature a TFSI 2.0 L engine, good for 227 hp and 370 NM of torque. The Audi TTS, on the other hand, will also be getting a TFSI 2.0 L engine, but with 310 hp and 380 NM of torque under the hood. Transmission choices will either be a 6 speed manual or a S-tronic six-speed dual clutch. Like before, Audi’s famed Quattro All-Wheel-Drive system is available for the hotter Audi TTS. The Audi TTS is able to sprint from zerotohundred in just 4.9 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

Engine aside, the new Audi TT’s chassis will use a combination of aluminum, steel, magnesium and plastic that will ensure the new model will be lighter than its predecessor. The Audi TT Roadster’s top can open and close in just 10 seconds.
