Delicious new vehicles are making its way to Geneva this year and every day; new teasers and releases are published on the internet to hype us up for the upcoming motor show next month. Regardless – Audi’s latest instalment might just be the one we are most interested in. Presenting the all-new Audi S1 and S1 Sportsback.

While the avid fans may remember Audi’s little A1 Quattro pocket rocket from 2012 – it was a limited run of only 333 lucky owners who got to experience the wrath of the 256bhp powered to a short-wheel based; all wheel drive A1 chassis. Looking at the response; Audi did promise future plans of the A1 potentially becoming even hotter to go up against cars like the Mini Cooper JCW.

With that said; the all-new S1 and S1 Sportsback will be the entry-level pocket rocket that many of us were waiting for. Packing a high performance 2.0 TFSI engine the produces a promising 231bhp and 370nm – with the power transferred to all four wheels via the infamous Quattro system. The S1 will do the Zerotohundred sprint in just 5.8 seconds and all the way to a top speed of 155mph which Audi claims is electronically limited.

Taking the name down from the legendary S1 Quattro – a monster in Group B rallying back in the power crazed 80s; it would not be a fair comparison for this new baby Audi to be put into comparison. But what the all-new S1 have to offer is a fun little grippy pocket rocket that can get you into a lot of trouble on the road.

“The Audi S1 offers all the virtues of a sports car, great performance, direct handling and permanent quattro drive that puts the power to the road in a superior way,” says Prof. Dr. Hackenberg, Audi Board Member for Technical Development.

The S1 features a revised suspension setup; following a reworked version of the ones seen on the standard model.. Audi engineers has extensively rework the system; including an all-new four-link design at the rear in replace of the compound link rear seen on the standard iteration and a modified front axle for a more precise steering.

The interior and exterior outlook has also been refreshed and redesigned to distinguish this bespoke model from the latter; making it an even special car to own. Boasting a much more aggressive front and rear bumper; packed alongside with a larger optional rear roof spoiler; it would not be difficult to tell between the two apart.

On the interior department – the all-new S1 is fitted with S Sport Seats and funky matching exterior colours to liven up the experience; thus making the S1 into a much more lively hot hatch. Its an all-new different approach for Audi but we reckon the combination might just work perfectly.

We are looking forward to see it in the metal soon and until then – the S1 will stand as our current favourite new car to head for Geneva next month. Prices and details will be unveiled at the launch as well.
