Renault’s new Clio is a cute little car, but after making its global debut at last year’s Paris Motor Show, it has yet to set its wheels on Asia, until now. Brought in specifically by TC Euro Cars to mark the beginning of the Formula 1 Grand Prix Weekend, the new Renault Clio RS 200 EDC makes its first debut over here in Malaysia with Williams-Renault Formula 1 drivers Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas having the honor of unveiling the car.
Powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, the Clio RS 200 packs 200-horsepower and 240Nm of torque, giving it a 0-100 sprint in 6.7 seconds. And like the previous Renault Sport machines, this one also incorporated spirited performance with everyday usability. The Clio RS 200 only comes with a 6-speed Efficient Dual Clutch transmission that offers both automatic and manual gear changes, where manual shifting is done through the steering-mounted paddle shifters.
“We wanted to show the Malaysian public the latest and best from Renault, and the new Clio RS 200 EDC could not have been a better model to showcase just exactly that. Both TC Euro Cars and Renault have worked very hard to make this a reality”, said Mr. Kuan Kim Luen, the Director of TC Euro Cars.
However, before you get too excited with this new hatchback, let us inform you earlier that this is just a preview of the car and it will only be available locally somewhere in the fourth quarter of this year. Nevertheless, you could still drop by the Renault Flagship Showroom in Section 13, Petaling Jaya for a more detailed viewing of the car.
After a quick Q&A session with both Maldonado and Bottas, they were in for a surprise as they were invited not to only sample, but to actually attempt in making Malaysia’s famous delicacies; roti canai and teh tarik. Do you think they could make great roti canai, or should they just stick with driving very fast around a circuit?
