The high powered Supercars and GT Cars @ TIMETOATTACK ROUND 1 2013

TIMETOATTACK is home to the Supercars – chief amongst which are the Club NEVERLAND car selections, that amazes the crowd and us at Zerotohundred every round. Despite the tough fight that they put up – other competitors come prepared to dethrone the McLaren MP4-12C as the fastest Supercar at TIMETOATTACK Finale 2012.

At the same time, taking into the heat of the event are the GT Car’s title which is conquered by Malaysia’s Prince of Drift, Tengku Djan Ley in his BMW E36 M3. The response has been impressive in this class section, with 8 cars participating in the TIMETOATTACK GT CARS. Indeed the bar was raised and it gave Tengku Djan some hard work and sweat to uphold his title.

Did Tengku Djan manage to uphold his crown? and has another Supercar taken over the Supercar class title at TIMETOATTACK 2013 Round 1?

Although they are not time attack machines, these cars were designed to go blisteringly fast. And what they lose on the corners, they make up on the straights, hittings speeds over 250kmh before hitting hard on the brakes for turn 1.

From Club Neverland’s pit-garage, the usual suspects made their way up to Sepang as expected. Their selection of toys are eye-candies to many and their presence diversifies the class of cars at TIMETOATTACK. Jason Tan was hot on the tarmac, attacking in his ‘McLaren Orange’ MP4-12C. Upgrades were kept a secret but his massive time improvement – from 2:29.9 (TTA Finale 2012) to the 2:24.8 at Round 1 2013 is a shave of a whopping 5.1 seconds. Whatever that he did, it definitely paid off – crowning him the fastest man @ TIMETOATTACK in the Supercar class.

Also in the Neverland pits, joined two more high powered monsters from the likes of the Porsche 911 Turbo and Ferrari 430 Scuderia. Driven by Kwek Kon Chun, his 800 horsepower (rumours) 911 Turbo lapped Sepang in 2:29.5, placing third in the Supercar class. And being in its elements – the 430 Scuderia driven by Azmil Murad lapped a 2:34.6, a 2.3 seconds improvement from the last TIMETOATTACK round.

If Club Neverland’s Supercar selection doesn’t rock your boat enough – the ultra-rarified Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale also made its way to TIMETOATTACK. Although 2 of the 150 units were expected to appear, only 1 showed up. But with its racing pedigree from its Super Trofeo race car brother, it managed a time of 2:28.8, placing second in the coveted Supercar class.

The list goes on but not too far off – the GT cars were also hitting it hard on Sepang’s hot tarmac! Although they may not be dream machines like the McLaren, but these cars offer maximum performance, with no expense of luxury and everyday driving comfort.

The GT Cars class were absolutely conquered by the bavarian ‘ultimate driving machine’ – with podium finishes all stolen away by BMW M3s’. Two of which came from Club Neverland’s pit-garage. 3rd place falling to Guy Tan in the E92 BMW M3 with a time of 2:37.3.

Coming in 2nd place was Jason Tan, who stepped out of his McLaren 12C and jumped into his E92 M3 to attacked Sepang. We could only imagine the battle of experience – driving the two very different beasts, from mid-engine twin-turbo to front-engined, rear wheel drive NA. Lap time? 2:36.641. A consistent and slight improvement of time from his last round’s 2:36.669.

But the crown falls to Tengku Djan, who defended his title for the GT Cars class. With his left hand driven E36 M3, he managed to clock a time of 2:33.2, an improvement of 1 second from the last round. Some may know that his M3 was specially converted from right hand drive to left hand drive, for better balance. From there, we can see how particular the man is when it comes to finding the minute perfection. No doubt that we look forward for the Prince of Drift to return for the next round of TIMETOATTACK!

That wraps up the Supercar and GT Cars class at TIMETOATTACK Round 1 2013. For those who missed the event, don’t despair! Set your dates for the next round of TIMETOATTACK in November (tentative) and for the enthusiasts and drivers, we look forward to seeing you attacking in the next round of TIMETOATTACK!
