JDM Mayhem @ 2013 TIMETOATTACK Round 1!

Over at TIMETOATTACK, we never stop receiving the best and most impressive entries every year with every single one of them being more than ready to grab the throne of being Sepang’s fastest man. The journey to the top is nothing close to being easy, but having the right tool for the job is a good start. And the most preferred weapon is undoubtedly the JDMs; not only for their relatively affordable cost compared to other cars, but also for the immense power that comes with it.

The best example that gives the most bang out of every buck spend is definitely Nissan’s mighty GT-R. A 3.8-liter twin-turbo monster that does a zerotohundred sprint in about three seconds with impressive capabilities in handling the corners is nothing to be messed with. With a second hand unit fetching a price of around RM 400k with out-of-this-world performance offered by tuners all over, this is a rocket ship for the masses.

We also have our hearts hooked up to their S-chassis as they are not only a suitable platform to perform some crazy oversteers, but also a reliable car when grip matters.

Garage R brought in their mean S15 Silvia to capture the summit, but surely it would not be a walk in the park with PitWork’s 200SX sharing the same circuit.

And to show how crazy the Japanese are, they even went on with the idea of strapping turbochargers to four-door sedans, demonstrated perfectly by the Mitsubishi Evolution and the Subaru Impreza WRX.

Take off the wing at the back and these cars look completely harmless. But take it to a place where there are no boundaries and it will show you what speed really mean. Couple it up with a proper aero setup, some tweaks under the hood and a human being daring enough to tame the package, you will get yourself a new track monster ready to break records.

Even the older generations show no signs of slowing down as they could stay bumper-to-bumper with the modern machines, like our lovely Evonne which we had missed for quite some time.

LTM Performance’s Ver.9 Impreza is simply put, just impressive.

But having a turbocharger boosting up to power does not ensure a victory in hand as the naturally aspirated cars do pose as a potent threat. And a marque known to have carried the NA glory is none other than Honda.

Whether it is the DC5 or the FD2R, these FF machines have no problem showing who’s boss over at Sepang International Circuit, with the Type R grabbing a lot of podiums in various race events that includes TIMETOATTACK.

The Honda quartet.

We know you wish you’d have one of these.

Mazdas and Toyotas do not really turn up in large numbers, but every single entry that involves them sure are interesting.

Aside from our regular 86 TRD, this Celica gives you the impression of being just a fancy autoshow car with scissor doors. But a closer look on its parts clearly shows that it means business, and a little flamboyancy would not hurt to turn heads a bit.

Who said Miatas are for girls and sissys? Show them this souped up pocket rocket and we’ll see who gets the last laugh.

And as a special tribute to a very gutsy participant, try and give your best guess on what is running under this MyVi’s hood. Any ideas?

*Hint: Take a closer look on its class sticker. Can you see it?

We will be back for the much-awaited results, so do not go anywhere guys!
