With the new PDK introduced to Porsche range of GT3 cars, purists are always complaining about the lack in character without the stick shift. But of course, Porsche says that the PDK system shifts a lot faster (which is true) and would in fact enhance the drivability and make it go even faster around a track.
The RS4.0 is so quick that it’ll lap around the Nurburgring in 7minutes 27 seconds but Porsche claims that the 991 GT3; bare in mind that this isn’t the fastest, quickest and most track ready version will do even faster at 7minutes 23seconds. So there must be something absolutely majestic with the new 991 GT3.
But the video proves that the RS4.0 (at least in a straight line) is faster than the new 991 GT3. So for it to be quicker around the Nurburgring, then Porsche has absolutely done some sort of wizardry on the new car, because when the RS4.0 was launched not too long ago, it was the ultimate 911. And now…the title may have just fallen.
For us – the GT3 RS4.0 will be the ultimate 911 but it is absolutely amazing to see how close the new 991 GT3 is to the range-topping car. It’ll be a while till we get to see the rebirth of the RS4.0 but until then… the 991 GT3 is an amazing piece of kit.
