Caterham will also be making an appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week but instead of just being represented by a line of Sevens, a new model will be joining in Caterham’s current line-up. This new model in particular will be the entry-level Seven they are working on called the Seven 165 Prototype.
We have yet to have the first look on this entry-level car since it is set to debut next week, but most of the important specs have been shared out. The one we are very interested in is no other than the engine powering the car – a 660cc turbocharged three-cylinder power plant sourced from Suzuki – which will churn out 80-horsepower and 107Nm of torque.
Of course, that does not sound anything close to being intimidating at all; but you should remember that Caterham weighs next to nothing and coupling it with a small and lightweight engine will just make it better. And this combination also leads to what Caterham said as the most fuel-efficient Seven ever built.
“The engineering process involved in the creation of the Caterham Seven 165 is nearing completion and, as we piece together the final elements, the car we believe will inspire a new generation of drivers to become Caterham enthusiasts is taking shape in exciting fashion”, said the head of Caterham’s automotive division, Graham MacDonald.
