Aston Martin drops the top off it’s Vanquish

Are you a playboy? or a footballer? or extremely wealthy and wish to turn heads on the high streets? Well this is a calling for you – because Aston Martin has finally release it’s latest open-air gran tourer, the Vanquish Volante. This is to cater for the people who prefers the sun over leather – and wind in their hair instead of air-conditioning, whilst wearing sunglasses and a beauty pageant on the passenger seat.

To make the car more exquisite – the new Vanquish Volante is the stiffest convertible the company has ever developed in its 100 years, using carbon-fibre and other lightweight strengthening materials to keep the chassis rigid. Losing it’s hard-top roof, it is now replaced with triple-skin lightweight fabric roof that folds away in 14 seconds. Aston claims that with the roof down, the boot is 50% larger than the outgoing DBS Volante – at 279 litres.

All the efforts taken to keep the weight down has only made the new Vanquish Volante 9kgs heavier than the Coupe – an absolutely impressive step taken, considering how heavy convertibles can get. Powered by the 6.0-litre V12 codenamed AM11, it packs a massive punch at 565hp and 620nm transmitted to the rear wheels via Aston’s 6-speed Touchtronic 2 gearbox.

Prices start at £199,995 in the UK to the limits you set with the options. No doubt that the new Vanquish Volante is a beautiful piece of machinery and will absolutely turn heads. At the same time – it is also a serious GT car. A good package? Well we can only look out for it on our roads when it reaches our shores!
